I'm obviously afflicted with literalism. ;)

I’m similarly afflicted. I’m being much more expansive and inclusive in my forum engagements now days and fully encompassing the bigger picture, rather than ‘how bloody far will Jim really drive’ thinking.

It’s hard work not answering questions literally, but any topic posted on here is, in my estimation, met with 20% of relevant posts to the OP question. Seems to be the way it works…

(I sadly note that this post is contributing to the 80% 🤦‍♂️)

I think Jim is just introducing the thread to encourage discussion. Him and Sian have probably been visited more places in their numerous vehicles, than many on here will have never even heard of.

He’s never been to Scotland though 😂

We have a few places we use for a get away from it all weekend, Port William is one of our favourite for just relaxing and Portpatrick has a little bit more life but still quiet enough to chill.
For wild camping we have a couple of spots in the Galloway Forrest.

Another vote for Cirencester. We're staying at the CAMC site for Xmas.

We stick to campsites. Melrose and Moffat easy distances for us. Kirkcudbright in the summer. Edinburgh as there is always something to see/do even if the weather is bad.

We like the lakes or Wales. Luckily we can go mid week which helps to avoid the crowds (although it doesn't seem to get crowded in Wales except snowden)
But also love city's so burrs camc for manchester.
