Your Beer of the week

When I was stationed ed there in the early 80s, all you could get was Keo and Carlsberg. Even though not a layer drinker normally, I soon developed a liking for the Keo. (y)

Cheers, :drink:

Jock. :)
The Efes comes from the occupied zone, so may not have been popular in the 80s

Just a note to say that to me, Beer is Beer, no matter what it is (lager, beer, stout, wheat, you get it), most I like, some are dreadful, but as a beer drinker the terms Real Ale and Craft Beer do not mean a thing to me. If a beer tasted good then it is good, if it tastes bad then it is bad (to me that is) and some Real Ales are pretty bad, it is just one of those things.

I am getting old and have drank many, many, beers, sometimes I think I should pack it in and just drink what I like but no I will carry on for a few years yet. The thing is, I enjoy what I do, even with the foul beers I have tried (and I mean foul) have been worth it, now I know not to get them again.

Enjoy London Pride when I go up that way but otherwise at home its Speckled Hen. Lots of craft breweries down here and Otter is very good.

Been to the beer festival at Tuckers Maltings in Newton Abbot a fair few times but the best was when I was asked to be one of the judges of the hundred or so beers there. You just have a very small amount of each to taste and spit out what you don't like and enjoy the rest. Still got very tipsy come the end as most were pretty good!

Have to say that I'm not keen on bottled beers with tend to be too gassy compared to tins and obviously much prefer draught! Lager only in extremis and tolerated in hot countries!

Lager only really exists as a name in the UK, most other countries just call it beer.

Today's Cyprus beer of the day is Leon

Had one of these the other night

10.5% very dark red in colour with a thin head, lot of fruit in the aroma and the taste is very complex, it was like eating a quarter pound of Midget Gems in one go (this is a UK thing I think), Lyons Midget Gems that is, not Maynards and it is strong, a new favourite for me.

A pint of Doom Bar closely followed by a pint of Abbots by Green King, served at slightly below room temp.
Off to Spain next week and will have to get used to their c--p beer again, only consulation is, only €1.25 a pint

Discovered a new one in a local tapas bar - Alhambra.

A bit like Leffe but Leffe mixed with Vodka.

Lethally lovely.

I like the look of the southwold Ralph, just my thing, a nice red ruby one and not too strong. I don't like anything over 5% these days.

Not normally a lager drinker but I’ve just drank a case of Hop House 13.
Brewed by Guinness, very nice it is.

A friend bought me a can of this beer from the states, made by DogTag Brewing Company and on each beer is info on a fallen military victim an how they died for their country! Even better is that from every beer sold, proceeds from each is donated to these victims families.

I have taken a liking to 'Desperado'.. a lager/beer with a dash of Tequila, a bit sweet for some but wonderfully refreshing on a hot summers day, from the fridge naturally.
