Your Beer of the week

There you are Ralph, not seen you for a long while. Sobered up enough to post again. '\

Sam Smiths is served in my local, a pint of Sovereign is £2:04 a very nice pale bitter, best price in the area.

Sam Smiths is lovely hand pulled when you can find it, nice pub at Scarborough that does it, Golden Ball.

Nice new avatar @Jim . A very good likeness:D

Had a little run out to Whitwick in N W Leicestershire yesterday and purchased a few (12) bottles of Tynt Meadow Britain's only Trappist beer and only the 12th world wide. 7.4% ABV so not for the faint hearted, one to be enjoyed slowly and not rushed. If you like beer that is dark and strong this is well worth trying.

@Ralph-Dot. Nice to see you back again Ralph. :)

I too am a fan of Sam Smiths, and enjoy their Old Brewery (cask) Bitter.
We have 2 x in Stamford, but only 1 x in Peterborough now. :(
Unfortunately, fewer Sam Smiths pubs are dispensing cask ale these days, in favour of keg ales.

I have to say that their Broken Link Removed and their Broken Link Removed are both very flavoursome, albeit keg ales, and they do an extensive range of bottled ales and fruit beers. (y)

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

Yes we have a Sam Smiths pub quite near us Jock, unfortunately they don't do the hand pulled:(, the stout is lovely though and the organic lager is nice and very strong.

When staying at my Daughter in laws campsite near Taunton (Hollybush Park) had a nice pint of Butcombe Gold at the pub next door :)

I prefer Butcombe original (used to be called Butcombe bitter) but the Gold was fine!

and the organic lager is nice and very strong.
I don't normally drink lager (not much choice when in Spain though ;) ), but as you say Paul, their Broken Link Removed
is nice. (y)

Cheers :drink:

Yes fully agree Jock, a lovely drop and i'm the same I don't normally drink lager

A couple of Timmy Taylors(My favourite bottled beer) tonight, followed by a Guinness and then round the evening off with a nice vintage port.

Sam Smiths had a hell of a bad name years ago in Yorkshire (50 years ago) it was awfull stuff. I have tried it again this last few years and have to say it is now brilliant. I go miles out of my way for Sams. Before you say it no its not me thats changed over the years its the beer.:)

Although I love Sam Smiths (not to be confused with John Smiths) and I really mean love, all of the beers they do, I am sure I asked a different question.

Funnily enough visited our local farm shop restaurant for lunch today, they only do bottled beer. Usually have Langston Brewery Inclined Plane a pleasant easy to drink ale. They'd run out so i tried Sam Smiths organic lager, no bad at all.

With my Beer Blog I have not done anything with it since April, but I was thinking about starting again, what do you think I should do? Below is what I wrote on the blog.

Yes Ralph, you did ask a different question, however, with the reaction from others to your revival of this thread, I thought that might be your answer. ;)
Although I don't comment on your blog much, I do read it when you link it in this thread, and If I have something worthy to contribute, I post on here in reply. (y)

I still have a coupe of bottles of Belgium beer, the ones I have are far too strong, 7.5%, anyone can make a strong one, to taste nice is a different matter.
I usually like between 4 and 5%, no more.

Many of the strong Belgian beers are very good but one a day, there are some stinckers though.

I can appreciate that (y) personally I have not found a single unpleasant one in the selection and even the 8.5% tremens is fabulous
The selection includes ones for cool to room temperature as well as very cold 2 degrees

Wimbledon Brewery’s Copper Leaf
Wetherspoons Maidstone.
Delicious. I might have made a pig of myself.:)

We like many of the beers mentioned on here but when in Spain we love San Miguel Selecta on draught. Unfortunately the draught version isn't available everywhere, its very popular in Alcossebre. If anyone knows of any other Spanish towns where its popular i'd appreciate a heads up.

I'll try to keep an eye open for the San Miguel Selecta Ralph, when down that way soon. (y)

Earlier this year, I was drinking..........
