Carthago Chic C-Line
Hello, I've never insured a Motorhome before, so looking to take out my first policy on a £95,000 Carthago and the cost is coming in at £1275. Is this about right or is this expensive.

I don't have any NCD for motorhomes, but have 3 other cars all with 15 years plus, I have no accidents or driving convictions. If that is the going rate, then that is fine. Please quote was from Adrian Flux.

Thank you
Mark

I'm waiting. Hate using a telephone but if they have hiked it over and above a reasonable amount i will call and tell em straight, I'll shop elsewhere if they don't. Not asking for it to be the same as last year just a sensible increase.

So I have had LV (very expensive), Caravanguard (slighlty cheaper) and CAMC insurance (a lot cheaper) come back with quotes. Interesting, it looks like CAMC are broker for LV which makes me question why did they quote so much when going direct? Any experiences of CAMC insurance? Regards, BOOMEL

We've had our motorhome insurance via the CAMC for the last 5 years. Not had to make a claim thankfully. This year's renewal was another £50 more expensive so looked around via comparison sites. Found cheaper quotes but they all wanted far higher excess.

Was at the NEC yesterday and got a quote from Howden Insurance brokers. Same underwriters as CAMC but £100 cheaper. Snatched their hand off as it's the cheapest insurance in 3 years. Also enjoyed their biscuits and chocolates, avoided the straw hat though 😁

Interestingly I have had the opposite, LV a third of the cost of caravan guard, CAMC even more expensive than CG , with comfort being the most expensive. I was concerned over the LV quote, but having checked all the small print , I am happy going with them. If it was just a few quid I would not have bothered but it lots....

Did you check the windscreen cover? When I looked it was only £600 - not much use if you have an A Class.

Mine with Comfort at last renewal was £434, I phoned them today to get an idea how much the new one will be. They quoted £1000 and can't be driven away from the dealers until alarm & tracker fitted. So after 13 years with Comfort it will be goodbye.

Cannot see a limit, and confirmed verbally over the phone, the only caveat is they only cover glass windows, but can live with that.

That makes at least four, I insure through the Brockenhurst Branch which includes the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth. They have been very helpful.

Insurance companies are a minefield.
