Whose responsibilty to repair ?

Confirmation from Days Peugeot that the airbag e.c.u. is u/s - shocking at just 9280 miles from new.

Peugeot are prepared to meet 40% of the cost, so something to be grateful for. :)

You hope.

Can you let me have the test procedure? The Fiat fault light has gone out - is there a further test for air bags ECU's? Or are you worrying unnecessarily.
Could be such a simple repair/remap thats its no problem? Or that Fiat/TRW are simply ripping people off because they are not willing or dont have the facility to repair them?

I'm not sure. We are talking your life here and you can't test the repair, the only test is a quick bump but then you buy new airbags.

I don't know the answer but we are victims of the ridiculous complexity of modern vehicles here.

Let's be optimistic, we assume these guys have a test rig with collision detection device. They have an indicator on the unit output - KNOCK - indicator lights up, ship it.

As Clint said "are you feeling lucky, punk ?".

I feel for you but altleast you getting something.
Wife had Matiz 3 weeks after warranty engine knackered turned out to be faulty oil pump which stopped and the engine block cracked. As oil pump was not a serviceable part and never checked and vehicle had not done 15k miles was expecting assistance. Was told no help and quoted 5k for new engine.
Got one off ebay for 500 and 500 to fit by local garage. Got it fixed and sold the motor. Never get a Chrysler (who owned Matiz at time).

That is a ridiculous price. Doing the repair sets them up for £1,000,000++ damages if it fails to go off and you are badly injured.

Let's hope their electronic skills are better than their business sense.
I can't imagine they don't have a disclaimer. Apart from which it undergoes a very thorough diagnostic test every time the vehicle ignition switch is turned on.

Apparently there are no genuine Peugeot airbag e.c.u.'s in the U.K. & as Peugeot are contributing towards the cost, they insist that a Peugeot e.c.u. & not a FIAT part is fitted ( although that's O.E.M.)

Advised that the e.c.u. should arrive by the 6th March.

The airbag e.c.u. is now with Days Peugeot & the Moho is booked in on the 16th March for it to be fitted. :)

£247.00 fitted, including a 40% contribution from Peugeot, so a reasonable outcome in our opinion.

The airbag e.c.u. was fitted by Day's Peugeot in Haverfordwest on the 16th while I waited & the issue is now resolved. (y)

Great service from Day's & the cost of the part was subsidised by Peugeot to the tune of 40%.

Now that just over a year has passed, did this problem ever rear its ugly head again? assuming you kept the MH.
