Generic name for a panel van conversion (see PVC) or other small van which has a sliding side door. So named for the sound the door makes as it slides shut and slam locks.

I have 3 a class vans parked around me and my pvc and let me tell you I can hear them 'click bang ' the doors ever morning between 7 and 7:30. So maybe another term for them or 'i canny hod ma water any longer,I need to go and make sure I wake my neighbor up at the same time click bang. 😅.
So u have set my alarm to get up at 3am for the next week ,that will show them😂😂.only messing of course ,or am I 😜.

Its surely obvious now that no new PVC should be allowed to be sold without the electric soft door closing mechanism being fitted.
Those that already have PVC's without this facility, should be less anti social and have them retro fitted immediately.:xThumb:
Maybe a crowd funding page could be set up for those in need of financial support.;)

Surely we need less electronic gizmos in vans not more.

Just something else to go wrong at the most inconvenient moment…. . nothing more satisfying than giving your van a robust whoosh & bang! However, I’m prepared to do a trade off for cessation of other common annoyances!

Unfortunately not that easy...@TinaLes .
Dont think you appreciate the work involved to make this happen! I looked into this and to retrofit it involves fitting a large ram onto the door which includes a total strip out and redesign of any fittings in and around the sliding door area.... so very sorry I ain't rebuilding my van so it does not WhooshBang.....
IDEA..... buy some ear plugs.🤣🤣

And we aren’t even into 2023 yet!🤣🤣

I doubt whether you could hear the click of the onboard toilet door in our A Class.

Just wondering what the point of your post was?

I'm willing to sacrifice for the greater good by letting you crowd fund a swap of my autotrail PVC for a Wildaxe Constellation XL. This is a PVC but with the lounge area by the sliding door and the kitchen/ bathroom at the back. At night the lounge becomes twin beds and access is via the rear doors. More bang than woosh bang.

Please let me know how soon you can arrange the money so I can ensure I dont end up with full tanks of diesel and gas at handover. :xrofl:

I love it, phrase of 2022. I even went outside to verify the noise description. I hope Jim adds it to the list. Point of order though, our 'CLICK BANG' is not white. Didn't want to be like all the rest!

Never ceases to amaze how little it takes to wind some people up. Not that most will say anything at the time. But from the safety of the keyboard, they love to tell us how mad that woosh bang made them. Now that really winds me up :D

Ours makes a slide click noise not a whoosh bang.

It was posted in the "Motorhome Jargon" forum in an attempt to enrichen the definitions within for newbies. Somehow it got moved, or posts into that forum automatically get shifted, or it's a closed forum - maybe Jim knows more.

If you have just put 2x 24 trays of coke & put on the floor then have 5 bags of shopping on each arm I think I have already done my bit only shutting it once from behind with my foot?

My comment to this is can any owners of the devils steed explain why they have to open and close the bloody thing so often???????
Multitude of reasons, but I suspect listing them would be pointless as you need to visit the current perp and ask them🥴

Well
My comment to this is can any owners of the devils steed explain why they have to open and close the bloody thing so often???????
Well I don't,, Because I try to tour in hotter climes, mainly Spain my door is open all the time I am on site during daylight hours,,Once closed in late evening it stays closed until breakfast..BUSBY.

My C class hab door takes a good slam to shut properly due to the door seals. I think its noisier than my old PVC.

When I close ours from outside I can do it with just a click by pushing at the furthest end which just forces it closed. Different matter closing it from inside as you’ve got to pull hard to engage the catch.
Where possible I do try to park as not to cause any disturbance to my neighbours but not always possible. Normally once I’ve walked Margo, dog, at around 9pm that’s it until at least 7am and this morning my French neighbours had their radio on from 5am so Need to slam the door so they heard me over their own noise.

I find a regular grease along the runners does help reduce the effort and the bang a little.

I much prefer our slide door in the sprinter to the standard door in the rv, if parked up in the sun with a 6x5 foot opening it’s lovely.
