Where to throw your rubbish

Well my plan isn't going to work., I'm going to have problems using a friends address if he has a car. Howver, if you have a fixed sink, cooker and bed in the van, then they class it as a camper, and you can go in. You don't have to be reg'd as a camper with the DVLA. Looks as if I need to do the work sooner rather than later.

We have just moved house to a neighbouring council, and recycling requirements are completely different. While you think it is lazy, spare a thought for those of us having to now decide what is recyclable using completely new criteria. Now, for instance, plastic bags don't go in the recycling they go in the general rubbish, but other plastics do go in the recycling. The Council website is very unclear about exactly which plastics are recyclable.

Your "duty" would be far better spent on lobbying governent to bring in a recycling standard throughout England, and encouraging more specialist firms to handle that recycling, rather than pointing the finger at some of us struggling with a hopeless system.
Think is would be much simpler if the government just banned non recyclable packaging,,,think cardboard and paper have been forgotten, BUSBY.

Surely if scrap prices are low then this is a clear indication that that scrap is not needed. Can't see how this is hindering the environment.
Scrap prices vary with the time of year..Lead prices years ago were always very low in winter because off burst pipes and car batteries failing there was a glut.. BUSBY.

"Recycling", is a logistical nightmare. Only Some "plastic" can be "officially" recycled for example, FGS, IF they don`t want fly tipping and the extra costs of removal involved then open access to reclamation/waste sites is necessary, to deny such access is a typical Bureaucratic Stupidity. CLEAR information on the container(s)/packaging etc; are required. I can see no reason why the need for "washing" is necessary?, ("they" are not volunteering to discount my water bill?) most goes for Smelting anyway, so the remains of the Lasange, or Ketchup or whatever, will make no difference. As for "litter" that has been an issue for as many years as I can remember, we had Posters on the subject over 50 years ago. and an advertising T-V campaign on Black and White T-V. The laws and fines have existed for many years, It`s Enforcement that is lacking!.

So true,,don't think Derbyshire County Council has ever fined anyone for dropping litter..BUSBY.

Do you think they refill tins and bottles then put a new lid on?
Tins, bottles and jars are melted down and may not even become what they were in the last life.
The furnace sees to anything left in them and the labels.... Why wash them out?

I do it because that is how I was brought up. Wash out everything. Here I do the same until the dustbin that I use is full. If you don't then it attracts flies by the 000's along with mice & rats.

Yes having relatives & friends in North Devon, east Devon, Mid-Devon & all having a different policy of what goes where & with what other stuff, you lose the will to live . & one of them even operates a policy of sorting so if there are things there that aren't recycleable they get slung back on the floor by your containers. When they first started doing this I got it stopped under fly tipping rules but they are back doing it again. Then with some you have to pay for garden rubbish.

Then I go to nephews in Essex where the whole lot goes in one bin. + garden rubbish is free

Personally anything the council won't recycle /won't take I'll just burn.

Never had that problem and our landfill or recycle bin hasn't been washed out in 20 years of being here.
Saying that, the lid fits properly.

If we want a garden waste bin we have to buy one...... Then to rub salt in we have to buy an annual 'tag' to have it emptied 4 times a year.
We 'inherited' our brown (garden) bin from late MIL when we cleared her house but its only used for overflow if I forget to put a bin out.... Alternate weeks.... Recycle.... Landfill (Or as they now call it 'waste to energy')
Garden waste gets burnt.

You don't need a garden waste bin,,get a compost bin,,free compost for ever..BUSBY.

When they were topping off the landfill area they were begging for it free of charge.
Hi.pappajohn.
"Muck away ".. They did charge Stupid money for bags of rubble and then only a given amount, but come the tip closing. They were begging me/us,on "Muck away " from a site to come and tip TONS!! for free.
If the tips were FREE there would be no Fly tipping. Question.. Would it cost less to have free tipping ? As against paying Grab wagons,to come and pick it up and transfer it back to the tip where it COULD HAVE BEEN ON in the first place ? Come on number crunchers, someone on here must have an idea... (y)

I took a chest freezer and fridge to Scarboroughs other tip, Burniston Road, only to be refused on the grounds my trailer was 6" too long..... It was a home built garden/box trailer.
I suggested to the bloke he may find them in a layby then have to send two blokes with a pickup truck to collect them and bring them to the tip where I had brought then for nothing.
He said, then we will prosecute you.
I said, who am I? Where am I from? Can you prove that I tipped them?
He was adamant I wasn't tipping.
As it was we bought the new fridge freezer from PC World and they have three or four skips around the back for white goods and they let me dump them there.
Now of course the jobsworth isn't there and they're happy for me to go with my 8ft x 4ft builders trailer... 2ft longer than the old one.

We live in one of the windiest countries in Europe which is why we have so many renewable energy resources. On!y the stupidest of local councils would ask householders to put waste paper outside in a wide, low, open top waste bin at 7 in the morning for collection by 5pm - by which time all the loose paper has blown away only to litter the local environment.

You have to bear in mind, that we talking about the same sort of IDIOTS. Who similarly describe the Pensions, we spent 50yrs+ EARNING, as BENEFITS
Same title applies to many so called benefits,,It is only a benefit if the person receiving it has never contributed ,,BUSBY.

AS a Pensioner/Taxpayer, I am still contributing!
