Where are all the Brits?

Most we have seen, was at the aire in santander, after 2.00pm when the ferry had arrived.

Although on here we seem to have quite a few going but I think in general, Brits are still aprensive about going, but from what we saw last week there is nothing that makes you see what we have been through for two years.
All the french are their cheerful selves and glad to speak to you in the street, everything is just the same as it was two years ago, get yourselves over there, you will wonder what all the fuss was about.
In 2021 we had one trip abroad instead of our usual 2 or 3. Apart from that it's been holidays as normal not had any problems anywhere. Felt far safer abroad than in the UK where people appear to ignor advice.

Same here,,one trip in 2020,,two trips to France and Spain 2021, Felt much safer than in UK.BUSBY.

We crossed last week and we’ve seen a good number of Brits on our journey South through France. Have to say my wife is a bit more gregarious than I am, but last week at Arras even her heart sank as an orange head poked round our van with those magic words “hello campers north or south”.

Just back from few weeks pottering round Normandy & Brittany, hardly saw any Brit vans!
Didn’t see many Dutch or German either.

Phew! That's a relief you won't be at the Hereford rally.
Nope I’m off for 3.5 weeks heading to destination camping skrila, Stara Baska, Croatia:Grin::Grin::Grin:

Deepest condolences, Germany is nice but the food is abismal and holidays are all about food.
Not had a decent meal since we have been away, other than the ones I’ve cooked.
Just outside Venice now and walked 1.5 miles to a family run restaurant and the food was average and service terrible 😞
7 countries so far so hopefully our next stops should be better.

We gave up eating out in Croatia couldn't handle the high salt levels.

Plenty of Brits in Portugal
We're just coming to the end of our 10 week stay on this campsite in Portugal.

We were here in Oct/Nov/Dec too.

There are Brits about - but our, anecdotal, view is that they aren't here in anything like the numbers pre Covid/Brexit.

The locals tell us that there's always a lull on the campsite at this time of year but there are still Dutch and,a declining number of French about. Most of the Swedes left over a month ago.

I don't know what your definition of "plenty" is - but which ever way you look at it there are "more than plenty" of Germans about than before said Covid/Brexit watershed.

I saw my first ever CZ plate on the site today.

Best meals we had in both Germany and Austria were at Chinese Buffets! :giggle:

Been through the Pyrenees, southern France, the length of Italy and currently in Greece in the Peloponnese. If we have seen more than 5 Brit vans in that time I would be surprised. Greece is full of German vans…so much so we would be surprised if there was anyone left in Germany. We have been to a few obscure locations and if there is another van….it is German.

Just arrived at our friends MH buisness near limoges all 7 hired out to brits .

I think some on here must be very fussy eaters, although we havnt been to many of the places mentioned we have been to Holland, Belgium,France, Germany, Austria, Spain , Italy and Portugal, and can't think of a meal that I would have complained about and we dine out once a day wherever we have been.

We have just got back after 2 months in Holland ,Germany and Belgium, probably saw 3 Brits the whole time.

We sailed from Harwich to Holland last Tuesday and were surprised there was only 5 other vans on the ferry. Then travelled up to Denmark through Germany and did not see any other British vans until we stopped in Struer for a night. On Monday we crossed from hirtshalls to Kristiansand Norway and we were overwhelmed by the number of Motorhome’s in the queue - there were 50+ but not one British. Most were German and Dutch. We now have got as far as Stavanger on the city campsite (a bit expensive) and out of 70+ vans on site only one other Brit. This is one of the reasons we have come abroad every one is in UK and not much room left.

Left Calais on Wednesday.Have now travelled through France into Spain...Only saw two brits the entire trip and one was a tugger heading home. Parked on an aire on The Ebro at Flix,,we are the only van here.It must be 30 degs now. Shall hit the coast in the morning hoping its a bit fresher.BUSBY.
Probably getting party hats & bunting out to block off a street

I'd love to be there but cant enter Europe until July as spent 90 days in Spain Jan thru march. :(

We have been to Spain and are now back in Gravelines and saw very few Brits.
