Where are all the British?

This Brit can’t go abroad with his MH because his licence, which expired on his 70th birthday in December 2020, is still in Cardiff.
The only change to it is that I now need driving glasses for HGV, which I still keep up so I can move traction engines about, but that is it.
I think by the time it comes back it will need renewing again 🙄
I more than think that you should have got your MP to rattle their cage.
14mths is 22mths too long.
There's no excuse.

Edit.
I'm taking the credit for the safe arrival of your C1 :whistle2: :whistle2: :whistle2:

20 degrees in the sunshine yesterday in the Charente :) A little cooler in the shade but still shorts weather!! :)

I need to move from Mansle to where you live, or was it a case of too much Pineau for lunch!

I grant you full sun and clear blue sky, but hat, coat and gloves for the afternoon walk here.

We arrived in France in the 27th of January this year. Spent several days travelling through France and entered Spain on the 4th of February, down on the bottom of France near Perpignan. Been in Spain since and only seen 1 other Uk Motorhome. Where are you all, loads of French, German and Dutch motorhomes. All here is as usual, sunshine, cheap fuel, municipal parking places, friendly people, loads of space and quiet roads?
We are in Gran Canaria 25 degrees sun sea and sangria 😊

Last thing i want to see when i go abroad is a British van

The majority of Brits', if not all all, avoid talking to us when we are on our travels as we are French registered, despite having a Cymru "Ddraig Goch" on the rear bumper. I enjoy meeting other 'motor homers' and having a chat, sometimes you wish you hadn't, but that's life.

Now that we can only spend 3 months in the EU we do not want to go too early. We will have a "shakedown" break in late February,or April then slope off to the EU end of April, beginning of May.That means we will be home by 3rd.week of July in time for summer!!

Yes the same here showing french plates, you can feel the prejudice when around the English but I won’t loose any sleep over it

Brexit means Brexit :(
So why do we let Europeans come to the UK for 180 days when we are restricted to 90 days, how did we agree to that , sod Brexit I hope EU countries/ governments lose plenty of money by the Brits staying away , unfortunately it's the ordinary people of the EU that are losing out financially.

For how many tears have you been saying that Chris?

I bet you have slipped over to watch Wales 'slaughter' ;) France
I have been to France hundreds of times its just not my favourite place.

I like the French Alps though(y)

And the 90 day rule does not help. Now it's all about timing
it's not that difficult to work out how to be abroad for a long time if you enjoy touring and seeing new places.

We depart to France on 15/02. Our planned date of return to the UK is 21/10. Very excited to tour through some non Schengen countries.

In Sol de Calpe Austral since mid - December - very, very few Brits - but made up for, and full with other Northern European cousins. British orientated pubs and restaurants are noticing the lack of trade. I tend to think it’s the 90 day thing which is the principal factor. Why dis we leave the EU?

corrected that reason for you

Seen very few British vans around here (eastern Algarve) compared to previous years, I'm told the campsite here is packed with mainly French, matamoros is that right? In fact they refused to take an advance booking from a Brit couple we know who have to leave shortly due to the 90/180 and tried to rebook for later this summer, they were told no we're too busy, you'll have to email the site....they've been there nearly 3 months and are (were) regular snowbirds at same site for years. They said they got the impression the site was plenty busy enough already and weren't bothered about taking their booking. Maybe because everyone (French, Dutch, German et al) are now travelling as restrictions ease?

I cant imagine much worse than being charged 20/25 Euros a night on a hemmed in, long term campsite, near a beach in winter, especially in Spain, with average temps of 12-18C, add in this years exceptional wind, rain etc....that's not warm enough to warrant the time & cost for "Warmer Weather" IMHO.
Our average temp here over winter has been in SE England 12C,not even seen any snow yet, so 18C average is not warm enough for us to travel that far.
When Spring Summer comes with daytime temps at or above 22/23 then fair enough, get over there!, but not from what I have seen some poor buggers endure, especially Greece & Turkey this winter.

Yes lots of French this year, the rest probably equally split between Brits, Dutch, Germans and some Swedes
There are still comings and goings and a few empty spaces but they may be booked.

Where is this year's exceptional wind and rain?
Probably the best winter I've known here in the Eastern Algarve and we've been here 8 years.

Yes, but for some odd reason, some people class Roses to Alicante/Murcia as "Northern Spain" along with Cantabria, Basque etc
If you want to nitpick, the border is at 42.3N, Marbella is 36.3N. Split the difference and the halfway point is Valencia. QED Alicante is 'southern' Spain. Having said that, when I bought a place between Santa Pola and ALC airport, a photo in a local cafe had a picture of the town square covered in snow.

Have a look at the winter escape vlogs to Greece & Turkey over Dec/Jan & Now Feb, they have had torrential rain, snow, & Even an earth quake registering 6.6.
But as I said before trying to " escape" the UK for warmer weather thats under 20C with night time temps down in single digits, being static on a campsite for a month or even months, doesn't attract us.
We like touring, seeing a different view each time we hit a new area, if its it not nice, move on.
Each to their own I guess, but not our style.

Lol Where's that in Spain? I've seen maybe 2 showery days in the last 7 weeks. Had multiple days in the low 20's. The tan is coming on great and my chilli seeds have sprouted. So much more hours of daylight here too.

Exactly what we have planned, don’t like an area then move on to something better is our motto ;)

Greece and Turkey are not the usual Snowbird retreats and are well known, to me at least, as being cold in the winter, Google The Dardanelles Campaign.
I don't think anywhere in Southern Europe does not get single digit overnight temperatures at some point over the winter, +5 for us so far this year, +3 last year. The bonus is that those sort of overnight temperatures almost always lead to a nice sunny day of shorts and t shirt weather with temps of 20+.
We too like touring, full timed in Europe for 6 years before settling here, toured with caravans for 20+ years before that and now use a campervan for touring.
The difference is that we now mainly base ourselves in Southern Portugal rather than the frozen north of England.
I take it that you do not have a house then if you like to move on all the time.
As you say, each to their own

Another beautiful day here. Did a 4 mile walk in shorts and vest top :) I have to admit, though, that I'm a long distance runner (as well as being a true Northerner LOL), so am used to being outdoors in all weathers in very little clothing
🏃‍♀️
