We are thinking of buying a wheel clamp for our recently purchased motorhome, does anybody have a recommendation for a reasonably priced easy to fit lock? Or maybe a Steering Wheel lock would be effective?
Thanks.

I have a milenco wheel clamp the three part type, that I put on at home plus disklock plus patriot seat lock plus strikeback alarm plus tracker and thinking of a pedal lock but can't find one for auto's , like someone said the more you have the better and the longer it takes the scrotes to try and nick it .

I bought a steering wheel arm lock (the bright yellow one that sticks out way beyond the wheel itself)
at the auction at Swaffham.

I wish all potential ganifs good luck in removing it without doing a 'Trumpet Voluntary' on the vans horn.
I know I do!

So it's not just my daughter (Elsie 2010) then that does that when she removes the lock?! 😂

We have Milenco wheel clamp & sterring wheel lock, they are required by the insurance, along with a tracker. Both can be seen here

They had to be insurance approved brands - this was through Camping Club and it halved our qoute.

Best security device I learnt of came from a Funster.
Turn the drivers seat round to face the habitation area and chain it with a good padlock to the frame of the bed or a similar fixture.

Apparently not.
I'm thinking of getting some form of loose fitting cover for the steering wheel, fastened by say a padlock.

Chummy wouldn't 'know' what was underneath ie the wheel plus the lock and I can imagine the horn going off a few times before he/she (must not be biased) got to the actual lock itself.
Thinking about it, it doesn't have to be hardened steel to cause frustration in a thief.

I tried to suggest chains to the bed with Mrs Emmit.
The bruising is just starting to fade.

I think you started that one off....I just ran with it thereafter! 🤣

Bloomin thing, nothing like alerting everyone to your arrival

I use amongst others a disc lock on drivers seat..... But found if you don't put it central in base you can turn seat half way so could still drive sitting side saddle..Also put a little battery powered light into cubby lid , really visible at night flashing red

On a slightly different, but associated note, we're getting our first HM soon(ish) and I'm interested in how many HMs get pinched or how prevalent theft of the whole vehicle or contents is, here or abroad.

Does anyone have 1st/2nd-hand knowledge of a van being stolen when it's had some of the deterrents mentioned here fitted?

Wondering how paranoid I should be (in addition to my excessive paranoia already wired-in).

I looked at many option's on security lock's, the one I chose was this Ate pedal lock at only £60. It work's very well for me, as easy to fit 15-30 seconds and sits beside me in between seat's. I'm sure the clutch claw is the most popular device, but at £135 it does the same job at more than double the cost ! I also have the GTE Tracker fitted.

Exactly the same as ours. I enjoy the challenge of trying to attach it without sounding the horn!

I had the last van stolen in 30 seconds, no extra security, so I'm slightly paranoid. Discklok, Milenco CB pedal lock, Milenco Wraith2 wheel clamp (don't bother with this, too awkward to fit. I only fit it on the drive), rear door hasp and padlock, OBD lock and finally a tracker. Plus the house CCTV beefed up. I find the "if they want it they will take it" attitude rather defeatist. I know that better than most but why not make the scrotes work a bit. No one leaves their front door unlocked 'cos "it only takes seconds to break in". As owners we shouldn't have to do all this to protect our property but that's the the way the world is now.

I bought the bulldog adjustable wheel clamp, it is not cheap but I know it would be difficult to get off

I never worry. Mine has an alarm that came with the van that sets with the fob. I have no other ironmongery just three friendly (but noisy when disturbed) dogs. In over 40 years of caravanning / motorhoming I've never used a wheel, steering, or pedal, lock. So I'm not paranoid 🫣.

Hi....... I did a lot of research on wheel clamps and eventually decided on the Nemesis Plus. Yes it's expensive but one of the best security wise and it's really quick and easy to use.
