Is this a ligit MOT and DVLA are sooo far behind?

My friend is looking for a really cheap motorhome, I came across one that has had damp in a few places. The extent of it we would soon see with damp meter but putting that aside at the moment. Been chatting to the seller via pm whose apparently selling on behalf of " A charity" .

Long story short he said its MOT'd til Dec, I replied yes last year... No this year he said and sent an MOT copy. Doesn't match up with DVLA account which says MOT ran out Dec 2020.

Run away. Walking away is too slow.

Clearly the MOT is fake. If that is false, who knows what else is false. Has it even got the right number plate, VIN? He's selling on behalf of a Charity, yet a post says he now knows MOT is false when he bought in December. Who even owns this crock of watsit?

Why even waste time going to have a look on something clearly a scam?

If you really must go along, do not go in your nice shiny motorhome. That risks being the next scam.

Well I'm starting to think the guy is genuine he has just sent me another email explaining that he has taken the advert down and the guy who us going tomorrow does not want he is going to mot it and then readvertise. He had no reason to email me and tell that as I had already told him the van wasn't for me so it may be he was tucked up aswel a c HD had it sorned from when he got it the dodgy ticket would show up but I might be wrong I usually am

The sad think about this whole tale so far is that we have all discussed it and one or two have had a laugh that anyone could be so gullible. But at the end of the day some poor hapless bugger is probably going to loose their savings and possibly more and even knowing what we know there will be nothing we can do to help.

Being brought up in one of Glasgows toughest areas made me streetwise if nothing else. I wont go alone but if circumstanses changed I would.
It's always a risk when posting on forums that one might be teaching unknown grannies how to suck eggs. ;)

Yes. You can always tell by the 4 vertical bars on grille leaning to the right. As long as they haven't swopped the grille.:giggle: Steering wheel should state Fiat also

Just some observations.

Both of the vans in the adverts are probably non turbo engines without power steering, both have suffered MOT failures due to corrosion, not surprising in vehicles that age I suppose but how well have they been repared. Both vans have a revenue weight of 3000kg so is there a problem with payload.

The kontiki did not have an MOT between 2017 and 2020, as you say its "long MOT" is only 2 months this goes along with "only 80000 miles" the MOT shows mileage of 89461 on 14/7/2020

yes and nearer 90,000 miles than the 80,000 in the advert, it could be a scam using an old advert

You have to remember that "general good condition for age" means most of the others are already in the scrap yard
It seems that the recent demand for vans has encouraged some to unload some stuff that is well past it's best
