What's stopping you buying a new van?

Was it straightforward to retain your C1?
Yes, I used D4drivers for the medical, the form was a bit of a faff around if they needed a new photo, so I rang them and the one that they had on the system was ok. I received new licence within 10 days of sending it in.

9.7 or 11.5 does not make a great difference what is really important is wheelbase, overhang, steering lock and where is your front axle positioned, the 11.5 might just be easier the manoeuvre then your current 9.7
In an ideal world you would have a 26t with lift axle and rear wheel steer HGV based one, they turn in so much better then expected by most people,
Also HGV based MH are so comfortable to drive.
( I am obviously not talking Iveco euro cargo here lol)
Not seen this mentioned before the wheelbase is important for manoeuvring don’t presume it’s smaller its easier to manoeuvre my old A class was easier than my now campervan. When I look for a new van I now check the wheelbase I would only now get one now with a smaller wheelbase it’s so much easier to use I never checked this before :crying:

Agreed. We had 3 PVCs before our current A-class. The PVCs were on the Fiat LWB and XLWB which had exactly the same length of wheelbase (the X meant it just had a bigger bottom!). Turning at junctions, manoeuvring, turning circles etc were a fair bit worse with the PVCs than our 5cm longer MH, something that we hadn't anticipated but is a welcome bonus!

What Autocruise do you have? We had a Gleneagle & swapped it for a New Caravan & hated it so ended up with a newer Bessacarr but the quality of Autocruise was so much better. I’m still looking for a Gleneagle as I simply think it’s the best layout & quality, in my opinion, open for any ideas on other builds
We bought a Gleneagle. Great van.

I'm afraid we gave up as our lifestyle (work) still doesn't allow enough time to justify the cost of it standing on the drive going nowhere fast.

So I guess the answer to the question is work and family stuff (on her side not mine of course :giggle: ).

Judging by all these replies, the dealers should be really worried. After you have done all the mods to make your motorhome suit your own needs, and you then look at the base price of a new one and add the extras you need, there's not much of an argument against keeping what you've got. How did the prices escalate the way they did in the last couple of years?

Maybe because of the way the thread title was posed with the word 'stopping' it encouraging ansers from those who are not going to change MH, and had the wording been to find out why people are seeking to change there might have been equal numbers of replies from people who are going to chsnge.

Hirsch, are you looking to sell? If so what year is your van?
