What's stopping you buying a new van?

Are you assuming you wouldn't be able to sell yours in the UK Stewart ?
I have not discussed a deal with Premium yet but going from discussions when I bought the current one it may work out cheaper to take the 19% hit to export back to Germany, some of the dealers are currently offering some great discounts. I’m very tempted with a Grand Empire but the size would be too restrictive at 11.5m, current van is 9.7m and we have never had an issue anywhere we want to go and have fitted in. However, we appreciate the extra 1.5m would make it so much harder. I really need to keep telling myself this as my head says be sensible but my heart really wants the GE. I need to be sensible, don’t want to regret it. Then we also need to think about the other issue of insurance which seems to be getting more and more of a challenge. The Palace Liner S Ways feels like a good compromise I love what they have done with it, prefer the look to the Empire.

Went to the NEC a few months ago and every van seemed to be fur coat and no knickers. They all had tons of bling but the quality was really disappointing. There were no real technological advances from 10 years ago. There were no vans with our preferred layout and far too many dealers/manufacturers were trying to flog 3500kg vans with no payload so unusable.

Cost would put me off for example ordered a Fiat Auto Sleeper in February 2022 From Marquis we got in in mid 2023 Marquis put up price £9000 saying (as in small print) their costs had gone up I assumed Manufacturer(s) they meant ! So if you order one today ( factory order)by the time you get it it may go up on price can you afford a vast price rise ? I won't be buying another for sure.
We got a fixed price deal, when we picked the van up last year if we hadn't it would have been £10k dearer.

Is that because the Germany would have to pay vat to import from outside the EU?
If so wouldn't the dealer be able to reclaim it?
That’s not clear at the moment unfortunately, not many dealers familiar with the new rules. I’m waiting on feedback from a few. A couple of the bigger ones have just replied with a not interested answer, seems like too much hassle. I have spoken direct to my contacts at Morelo who have the dealers working on it for me…bloody brexit😩

You could just move somewhere nice in Germany and not get inundated with foreigners every August! :whistle2: :giggler:

We are never there, would make sense to move out but that’s a completely different story. As for moving to Germany, I had better not mention the B word again or I shall be getting sent to Coventry.
