What reaaaally bugs you about your motorhome?

How well Truma Combi's work is down to the installation. Installed properly they work very well no complaints on ours.
Our van is 7.5m the boiler is mounted centrally under the lounge seat, 4 vents in the lounge front and aft of captain seats, heating outlets along the dash between roller blind & screen, outlets in shower & toilet. Also heating outlets along the sides of the bed and one in the garage. Works really well.
I agree. Our boiler is mounted in rear corner. If it was switched with the Sargent unit it would be amidships and give more even heat distribution. I can only suppose that, with our layout, that would have created much longer pipe runs to the kitchen sink and this was considered the lesser of two evils. Still love the motorhome though.👍

Poor ground clearance, lightweight cabinet construction.
This surprises me Lenny, I find our Exsis excellent. The ground clearance is why I wouldn’t go near a Bailey.

Seat belt tensioners!
Once we’re belted up we can hardly move!!

Can they be adjusted?

Poor ground clearance is one of my annoyances on our PVC - the under-slung electric step is way too low and close to the ground.

Have had it repaired once and then replaced after it got hit a second time. :(

Ours is the same. To make matters worse, the coach style sun blind feels like it's about 2 metres away. So you end up doing the forwards-backwards nodding dance while blinded by the rays for at least half a mile.

1) The antiquated dash on the Ducati base vehicle.
Speedo that can’t be seen, no steering wheel control for radio and for a top price motorhome the technology is miles behind a average car.
2) The Memsahib hates the high Dometic TecTower oven.

Other than those it’s great.

And for some reason to switch it on and off with the button on the end. But also switch it on by twisting it.
Just to clarify- You switch it on/off by twisting (indicated by light on dash) then set it to current speed by moving up or down. Each subsequent Up or Down tap increases or decreases the speed by 1mph

If it is On, and you brake or change gear, it switches OFF, but by pressing the button on the end, it resumes the previous set speed.

Wouldn't it be a good idea if there was some sort of indicator to tell you that it's actually active? Or something to tell you what speed it is set to? I've driven several cars that can manage to show you the target speed on the dials with a colour change to say when it's active. Or even using text in the display would be better than the very ambiguous green is-it-or-isn't-it lamp.

Not a lot really but wish the paint work was better on ‘bonnet’……yes it’s a Hymer!

My knee rubs against the ignition key (due to high seat box fitted by Dethleffs to contain the Elektroblock). Both yrs trly and the Memsahib feel as if we're looking through the very top of the windscreen.

Piddling little shower area:blush: but that's the compromise you have to make when going down to 3.5 tonne

X250 Ducato.
Seat too high or mirror too low , when doing some left turns I have to actively look under the mirror. I'm average height.

The totally inadequate catches on cupboards and drawers. Our full height slide out larder has one small catch in the centre and we found if you put anything heavier than a packet of teabags in it slid out when you went round a corner. We put a sneck on the top which works much better.

Our current 3.5 tonne van has the biggest shower area of all our previous vans, most of which were bigger/heavier.

On a more serious note, the Ducato's controls are not good. Windscreen wipers, you click down to make them go faster which is odd, except when you adjust the intermittent wipe, where it's you twist up to go faster. The cruise control stalk should not be the same size and shape as the indicators above it. And for some reason to switch it on and off with the button on the end. But also switch it on by twisting it. And then the fog light buttons are hidden behind the steering wheel. It's a usability nightmare.
We have a Ford so don't have any of those problems. Lights & wipers are auto, cruise control is on the steering wheel, fogs are a fingertip away. Nice heated windscreen too. All standard spec.

The only real gripe is the 70 litre fuel tank. Personally I think they should all be 100 litres.
