What is the most ridiculously over priced factory option that you bought?

And the depreciation cost how much?
Mine went up in value 2 years after I bought it. 4 years on, still valued at what I paid for it.
The type of vehicles we tend to buy you have to accept the depreciation costs. It was a work tool and got my wife up and down the country safely in all weathers. What price do you put on that.
Exactly that. I can understand why people own Chelsea tractors. Seeing how some people squirt and shoot some cars.

A 40 ton truck nearly took me clean out on the M60 this week. I was concentrating with both hands on the wheel. I was driving my van, swerved between the 4rse end of the trailer and a speeding Volvo. Not sure what shocked me the most, the truck driver or a Volvo doing more than 56 mph 🤣

I'm not sure that the safety tests indicate a lot more if any safety in a big 4 by 4 than other cars. It might feel safer and the higher driving position feels better but in an accident you want something that crumples to absorb the energy.

But when my wife had her Audi A2, I dreaded her taking our grandchildren out in it. I said if she had a serious accident, they would have to pour her out.

Decided to sell it after 17 years and bought her something bigger and safer with a 5 star rating

I think safety in general has improved so much that any car 17 years old is likely not to be anywhere near as good. But I don't think bigger is always safer especially if based on an old floorplan design.

The best safety equipment on any car is an alert and careful driver,,,BUSBY..

Dishwasher in the van, totally useless really and we normally just wash it up in the sink or in sumner outside in a bowl.
Agree Mark. I just had the ability to recognise that before I bought the van. 😛😆😆👍

Having options on many cars, even motor homes, does not mean you will get the money back for them when you sell.
As my dealers sales guy told me on new collection day, yes you fit all your aftermarket options to improve the van, I will park it up next to the same standard one for the same price...its just that yours will be easier for me to sell.
I think that advice has steered me into looking for "pervious owner improved " vans in the future, but as it was our 1st ever MH, you live & learn I guess.

Drop down coffee machine on the new van, Mrs R’s treat but still not worth the money😂

Forgot where ours is as I removed it pretty much as soon as the van came😁
Have a nice handy shelf now that we put the tea making stuff on😁

Must admit i much prefer tea although i do like a coffee before a decent ride and the rest of the team make their own variations of what they call coffee 🤷‍♂️

My first brand new car was a 950 fiesta 3 doors as back doors cost more no radio as that cost more no leccy windows as that cost more no choice of seats as you guessed it cost more.

Did the job changed it 2 years later for extra doors and a radio ...

Now got 4 doors , radio, heated leather seats bought 2nd hand at 2 yrs and 1 day old and will have it until one of us dies

I didn't pay it, but the original owner of my RR bought the illuminated sill cover plates - so the metal bit that protects the sill from scuffs as you climb in have backlights illuminating the Range Rover text. Cost him about £400 over having just plain metal ones IIRC from the invoice it came with.

As long as I step out who worries about the one who caused the accident?
And if you caused the accident or your passengers don't walk out? Anyway, don't worry about replying.

Kinky mods .... hmmmm ... does it have a pole and a trapeze?

(NB: Yes I do know what pervious actually means but it's not so funny!:giggle:)

No paid for extras on our van. It came exactly with what we wanted..................................O'ooop's sorry, tow bar at £405, but i didn't think that was expensive.

Nobody mentioned a wedding ring that came free with the service?

Factory option:

Bedding kit for my Bailey - made a bed for the cat with the duvet - she likes it.

Purchase thinking I was doing the right thing:

Avtex 24inch Satellite TV - expensive rubbish. Threw it in the bin at a Campsite in Wales. Bought a vastly superior LG to replace it at nearly a third of the grossly inflated price.

When I buy a new car I usually spec it up with options, I would rather wait to get what I want. The motorhome though came with no extras as it was available on the forecourt. Looking back if I had ordered it I would have chosen the other fabric option inside but I am happy with it.
