What is the daftest place you have seen something fitted to a Motorhome?

We had a previous MH which had the old style TV pull out shelf (that was housed in a cupboard when not in use) for a CRT type telly, it was so high it was impossible to watch a TV placed on it!

A couple of MHs at the NEC last week had the TV bracket fixed where it was only watchable from the bed(s).

We have a Carbon Monoxide alarm fitted right in the middle of the corridor between the beds.
Even my 5'2" hits her head on it getting into bed.
If it was moved 1 foot in any direction it would be fine

I'll move it once ive found out how it's atttached, as I dont want a hole in the ceiling if I pull it off (assumeing it's glued)

I remember seeing a new Range of Chausson vans that had a slide out bbq fitted next to hab door and I thought that wouldn’t work well with an awning fitted .

As real bbq does not require a point as it's charcoal I've never seen the point of having a gas cooker outside when there's a good one inside :p

We use the Bullfinch on our van to power a single high burning gas ring specifically to cook messy/smelly items, like Steaks etc, keeps the mess/smell out of the van!

Perhaps surprisingly it works really, really well! Under the awning and handy to get to/serve food from. It's the only thing I miss about our Chaussons and I wish other manufacturers would fit them.

Seems odd, didn’t it swivel or have another tv point somewhere near a shelf?

The rubbish bin attached to the habitation door. As we almost always have the door open when we are parked-up it means I risk falling out of the van every time I stretch outside to use it.
Been there, done that ... ended up in a heap on the floor! :giggle:

Which design genius came up with fitting the tap in the middle of the motorhome?

Two things that bug me, installing a 240v socket just above the sink and a carbon monoxide detector installed so that when you open the cupboard door, the test button is pressed !

The switch to power TV Ariel in locker above dining table, have climb on to seat to reach it:unsure:

the smell of fish or curry does tend to linger rather a long time. That’s why I use a smell gas hob outside although it’s free standing so I can put it where I like.

I have to say I think the stupidist thing on my van is the window on the back.
As it has the rear French bed the window is right where a headboard should be , therfore the blind is constantly being crushed by pillows etc ....And the rear view out it isn't that good as there's a bike rack obscuring it ...I'd rather it wasn't there

We had the same issue in the Globecars, where your heads were supposed to be there were windows with squishable blinds!

Just thought of another thing, when we had an Autocruise Accent PVC the control for the heater/boiler was in the rear 'dinette' area but as this was underneath when you made the bed up it was a s*d to get at so I moved it up into the side panel of the wardrobe where it should have been in the first place!

Got to be the water heater switches, both the gas and electric switches are nearly at floor level, foward end of the table , ............but underneath it. Duh.......chausson keeping their wire costs down. Just on the inside face of the under seat locker where the boiler is.

(have heard that some chsusson owners have repositioned them on the otherside of the van, up by the main control panel, but not seen this)

Having read through this thread and then thought whether there are any design faults in our N&B Arto (2003) I really cannot think of any - but then I would not expect there to be any.

No. We had a good look and couldn’t see another point and no swivel arms. Another had the tv and power sockets above the kitchen worktop but no bracket on the wall. The picture in the van showed the TV sitting on the worktop so obviously no watching while cooking. Perhaps it’s a money saving feature.

Ooo, just remembered another daft issue ... in our Globecar Campscout when the toilet/shower compartment tambour door was in the closed position (ie not in use) it would scrape along the front of the toilet bowl unless you remembers to turn it first, it was plain stupid and no obvious reason for the toilet to just as far out causing the issue.

Also the electric step button was on the side of the kitchen unit so couldn't be reached from the cab which is when you'd realise you'd left it sticking out! We solved it by having a prodder pole to poke it with!

Our AT has one of those pull up electric socket towers, positioned at the back of the kitchen worktop, between the hob and the sink. There is sticker on it saying that the sink cover must be down when it is in use. Accidental knock the tap lever and water would hit the cover or the worktop and spray over the sockets! Haven’t yet worked out what 3 electrical items would fit on the worktop. It has never been used and never will be by us.

Also, next to the loo is a large (6” x 2”) grid for the heater. It must have a gap through the floor below it as when it is windy sitting on the loo is very chilling and when the heating is on uncomfortably warm!

The answer lies in the picture, it is so that you can put a wine bottle where the tap should have been.

My new Adria Matrix Supreme 670DC has a cheap screw that goes through the curtains and into the wall. Its purpose is to stop the wind blowing the curtain into the hob.

I've posted this before but it was a while ago so some won't have seen this 'genius' bathroom sink design spotted in a motorhome ...

It looks like a mirrored door opened in front of the sink as the taps are blocked behind it, why would there be a sink with no tap?

Such tales of woe. When I think of our :inlove: Winnebago:inlove:, I can find no fault.:clap2::imoutahere:

Another couple of the sink, I can't remember where the tap was as it was so long ago.
