Well said! What is motorhoming for us? It’s about freedom, real freedom, going where we want when we want, being surrounded by our own things, not continually filling suitcases, emptying suitcases, sleeping in beds that are too soft or too hard.
No hanging around at airports for hours on end, then crammed into a plane with hundreds of others. Waiting for what seems like ages to collect our luggage when it finally arrives on the carousel and then having to stand in a queue to hire a car to get us to a hotel.
Motorhoming is about the pace we do things at i.e. not dependent on someone else's timetable.
It’s about seeing places we would not normally see. So many beautiful places that are off the beaten track and would never be part of a coach tour itinerary.
It’s about escaping. If we arrive at a place and decide it’s not what we expected, then we can move on to somewhere better. Or if there is a change in the weather then we can drive to somewhere where there is sunshine. We are not committed to spending a week or a fortnight in a place that we've decided that we don’t want to be.
We have our personal items in our own private lounge, dining room, bedroom, kitchen and toilet/shower room that we can transport to wherever we want to go.
Our 'van is our cottage in the country and our beach hut when on the coast. It's a seat by the window in a restaurant with the best view possible. It’s a comfortable home from home.
What’s not to like?
Or if you’re still working for a living, a week feels like a weekend..... that a weekend away feels like a week
Thanks, Podney. I actually was in marketing! Ran my own small advertising business for a few years and then actually sold businesses for a living, working as a sales negotiator for a nationwide company.Well said!
You should be in marketing or writing sales brochures for manufacturers/dealers.
Maybe you already are!
Not having to worry whether your tour company will still be in business when you want to return home.
Well we plan quite meticulously; but react to places we’ve not been to before. The lack of planning needed, we are on our fourth night in Spain, after crossing the border just for a few hours shopping.
Unless it's Eurotunnel - for this holiday.
Keep those Trains running please ......Fingers ? for you! Not been abroad yet so not had a panic over travelling!
Having a less miserable Mother
That sounds a bit difficult for you so hope you get awsy often!
