What do you clean your MoHo roof with?

TFR or similar is what you want since you do need to remove all wax etc before using Sikaflex or you won't get a good key.

I suspect our problem is a bit different from most! The MH we acquired last year was for some time kept in the Isle of Mull with very clean air. The top has been colonised by a variety of lichens which are an absolute b......... to remove! What is the solution without removing the gelcoat as well?

What model is the Henchman step ladder?
The " Henchman Platform Ladder " is the four legged version .It can be taken apart for transporting or reduced heights..Very sturdy at all levels .I have fitted a set of casters to one end for ease of location.

I use Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster you can buy it for around £1 a bottle. Wet the roof, leave it a moment or two, then spray on the Astonish and leave it for 5-10 minutes then rinse off with a hose. Repeat for any stubborn bits and clean with a sponge or brush (y)

Hi, as you can see from the photo' my "Henchman" is to the platform ,(counting the rungs etc) Ten Feet ,but the adjustable legs are not fully extended .My " Concorde" is 11 foot five &half to the sat' dish.

I would recommend JennyChem Caravan cleaner £22.95 for 5L on Amazon.
Brilliant for black streaks, etc.

I noticed someone mentioned tar remover. Off the shelf tar removers can danage the paint. A good alternative which works just as well & does no damage at all, is to use a tiny bit of Flora. When I'm on a tar removal spree, I use a dry clean cloth to dab on the Flora, then use my finger to rub the Flora over the tar deposit. Then leave it for 20 mins or so & go back with a clean dry cloth & gently buff all the Flora marks.

I’ve used butter before too

Clean with wash & wax, extendable brush then use wet and forgot once a year which kills and mildew and moss

Fenwick's Caravan Cleaner, second application, took off all the heavy moss and algae.

Use a primer to get a good base for the Sikaflex.

Autoglym Polar wash followed by Autoglym Polar Seal, they are great products.
I concur I have recently started using the autoglym polar blast preeash on my car as well as the polar wash ( via a pressure washer) dwell time about 5 minutes each finally contact washing with the polar wash. Great results I intend on using the same on my Motorhome when it arrives in 2 weeks time.

Must be missing something.... TFR? Thanks Westbarn, I'll have a look at your ad in a sec!

Thanks guys!

Russ

If your going to use TFR use a weakened solution. be careful of the run off to the bodywork, (keep that very wet) it will streak.

I recently used Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner on my filthy roof with a soft brush. Road dirt, moss, green algae and a lot of muck.

The first go took most of it off, and a second go after rinsing removed stuck-on moss, and algae. I had to work a bit harder on patches of algae in corners, but it lifted them.

Hosed it off and it looked clean and shiny for the first time.

The only thing it didn't remove was a few road tar deposits, so off to Autoglym for something to deal with it.

I would love to post something informative and helpful to others on this thread but the words...

Clean... motorhome and roof... simply do not compute in my search engine. :whistle2:

G101 1st breaks up all the algae etc, then just wash n wax in warm water and comes up like new everytime 🤷‍♂️

That's alright on newish van's, but older van's need something stronger like G101, it's magical as you can use it on any surface or material, used it for many year's in the motor trade and at home, my family and hundreds more converted over the year's. Great for cleaning stubborn stains off seats like oil based stains etc, we all have a spray bottle handy !
I buy it in bulk now from Jennychem online as half the price of anywhere else. Google them as they cover every known product like wash n wax, tfr etc. You can even buy a tester pack of 8 product's for less than £30 to try out, I swear by them on quality and price 👌

Fenwicks and then autoglym for 22years from when Fenwicks fist started roger used to live up the road,he started it from home.

Another one for Fenwicks with a magic ingredient - a Dave. Light enough to stand on the roof (don’t tell mummy!!!!), weighty enough to push on the broom. And only £5 to boot.

I wash poppy lll with warm water and standard car wash wax shampoo. Poppy comes up looking brand spanking new…?? Wait a min, Poppy is brand new.. ahh well time will tell.

I think I may be in for an interesting roof clean when we get home - spent early hours of this morning listening to pigeons on the roof! 🙄
