what did you fix today

painting the bathroom, and the hallway and now starting on the stairs.

Bit of a journey but we have replaced our water pump and strainer in the MH! We were bimbling our way round France when we discovered a leak :Eeek: mainly when we used the shower. Contacted our dealer - 3As at Carmarthen- who arranged to send a part so made our way to Twin Lakes so we would have an address they could deliver to. We were then 'forced' to stay there  oh dear what a shame!! We arrived on Friday 10th. Lovely ambience, lovely people, great weather! Package arrived on Thursday 16th. Weren't sure it was the right part so 3As sent a new pump which arrived Monday 20th. So all fitted everything seemed to work ok. So off we went bimbling on, calling to see Frankie in Balma for a couple of days:Smile:
Week or so later more leaks:Eeek: this time from the expansion tank connected to the pump which basically smooths the flow from the pump. 3As offered to send the part but as we were on our way home we thought we would manage. It got worse to called into a Camping-Car dealer in Perrigny. Miraculously they had the part we needed! On 'Occasion' (€50 down to €20) with no guarantee:Eeek:but we took the chance. So got it fitted without too much leakage and so far so good:clap2:
Yet another learning curve :Smile:but have to say that Merrion at 3As gave a sterling service. (y)

Fitted a new Aldi carbon monoxide alarm in the van.
New bumper sticker to go on too when the rain stops!

I finished one of these for my granddaughter for Christmas ( I don't know how Santa will bring it down the chimney though)

That's nice.(y) identical more or less to one I have that my father was given back in the 30's. supposed to be about 100 years old. I'm always amazed by things people can make. I give my nephew a piece of firewood & he gives me a knife ,fork or spoon back that he has whittled !

Making rather than fixing, and it's nowt to do with motorhomes, but I did make a couple of Clappers this morning from an offcut of 3 x 2.

Replace the rear running lights on the MH with new ones as the old ones were getting past there best
bill

Managed to 'save' the two way rocker switch for the habitation step. Amazing what a squirt of contact cleaner can do.

My van came prewired for living area speakers , so after having a friend fit a new head unit , I decided to try some speakers that I already have to see what it sounded like . connected one speaker and great it worked , next speaker , nothing . oh .
Long story short , a junction block had been wired incorrectly , so a bit of guess work and the speaker fired up , joy .
As my electrician friend said when he was installing radio , there are a hell of a lot of wires under the floor !

Hubby refixed the wardrobe rail as it had pulled through the old one and fitted a small safe, ready for our ski holiday :)

That reminds me , I have put a little safe in the garage area , fits a treat in a small alcove , must remember to bolt it through floor !

Had a go at sorting step out and decided to give it a clean as well.

New ignition coil fitted. Has the misfire been cured, no! Grrrr. Back to the drawing board.

bit like my step then. thought the internal switch was sticking after checking fuses and wiring but it appears to be ok, so like you back to the drawing board lol

Have bought new leads and plugs, if that doesn't solve it, goodness knows what it is :(

Ooh don't know, have to look into that. Was the AA that suggested coil pack, as only happens when engine gets hot. Apparently they are notorious for the ceramic bits breaking down inside.

Condensers can also break down when they get hot.if your electrical system includes one of these its worth replacing ,only cost a little..

Thanks, will definitely investigate further.

Is the distributer cap ok what vehicle is it?

Thanks Bill. No distributor cap. 1995 2l petrol boxer

Fitted another 110 ah leisure battery after the scare stories from Chester last year
Bought a cheap set of jump leads and cut them up for the cable, haven't worked out if the battery needs venting directly outside as there is a vent hole in the floor beside the original battery.

Condensers (capacitors) only used with points. No vehicle fitted with points ignition since '80s.

Seems to be running ok now, but the fault has been intermittent. Anyway, have sold it, and told the buyer whats been happening and she's not overly concerned. Dont think it was anything too serious but I let her have it cheap!!!
