Now to venture into town to sample the local ales 🥳🥳

I'm considering lessons in Reading Spanish and Portuguese as I can't tell the difference

Be careful getting the 2 mixed up, in some places, it has the same repercussions as speaking French in Northern Belgium! 😄

First weekend away in the Knaus. Heading to the CAMC site at Melrose. Freezing overnight, but dry and light winds so should get a cycle ride in as well as trying to work out where to store things and how to work the domestic kit.

Off to Keswick C&cc site with non funster motorhoming friends. They used what is now Jasmin camping when it was owned by the 2 old guys, not been back since.

En route now. Not driving for a Change. Think we spotted Ronaldo at scotch corner. Looking forward to hooking up van and having a beer or a gin or a wine probably end up with another tea lol

Confirmed Emirates flights MAN-DXB-BNE-PER-DXB-MAN, all bizz class, ouch.
Also confirmed a Jayco 5 berth Excursion Auto with slide outs on a VW (only 2 of us). They have confirmed the van will not be more than 1 year old and being Nov when we collect it could be a new one.
We did go to Maui and Apollo when we were there earlier in the year. Dozens and dozens of vans in the yard to look at (they are next door to each other) Didn't like what i saw so gone back to LetsGo Motorhomes.
Picking up in Brisbane, dropping in Perth going anti clockwise north to Cairns using inland roads not coast as we have done that a couple of times already, West to Mount St Isa, Kathrine, Lake Argyle, Broome then cut inland down to Perth.
We will have then completely circumnavigated Australia, AND also gone through the middle from Adelaide to Darwin, so in effect, Done Aussie.
Next NZ
Or
Maybe Canada.

bobnick If you've not been before the QANTAS museum in Northreach is worth a visit. The mine trip in Mt Isa [it used to have a London double decker bus doing the tour, you exit the lift cage, wait, then the bus turned up](the largest city in the world by area at one time, now 2nd), and the Irish Club (the highest consumption of alcohol in any establishment in Oz at one time, had many a session in there) are worth doing. Enjoy.

Thanks for the tip on Mt Isa.
No not done the Quantas Museum, it's now on the notes.
We have seen more of Australia than most Australians evidently.
EDIT, just looked, is not Longreach? unfortunately the nearest we will get to Longreach will be heading North through Emerald on the A7 being about 500 Ks away (around the corner in Aussie terms)

Coming up to 70 and worried about renewing my C1 I practically stopped posting and certainly no planning ahead. Renewal came last week so zipped off to Northumberland for two days - short 3 minute video at the link below "two days, 5 dog walks, one pizza and two knackered dogs" Feel like I have my mojo back.

Better version now

Northumberland

Grrr spell checker, yes it's Longreach. At least 1 Qantas plane will be named Longreach.

Before the jet service was introduced it was pond hopper BNE - ISA where depending on wind, load etc often would have to land to refuel. If lucky at Longreach and a wander round the museum whilst the plane was refuelled by ground crew. Other times it might be a sheep station, or farm where it may have been all passengers help rolling out fuel drums to the plane and operate the hand pump, or a bowser where the plane got as close as possible. On one occasion there was a lady pilot and 4 male passengers. As we sat in and buckled up a tray of sandwiches and a couple of trays of fizzy drinks were handed around as the in flight meal. 1 bloke, his first time on a pond hopper asked where the toilet was. The pilot replied you can only pee, open the can of pop, drink it then fill the can!!

Great times when work was fun  (y)
