Heading towards Stranraer for the ferry to Belfast. Got 11 days to see Northern Ireland and maybe Donegal, as we didn’t make it that far on our Ireland trip.
Missed the train to La Rhune about 38 years ago, so decided to do the climb and descent on foot. Seemed like a good idea at the outset ...Looks like we are going to hop on the trike and head over the border to San Sebastian from Saint Jean De Luz tomorrow, then Saturday we will visit the Rhune Rack Railway before a journey up the Pyrenees on Sunday
Just going for 4 nights to get out do a bit of shopping and bus riding see more of kentyou doing it in a day or stopping somewhere ?
What’s the problem with Letterkenny? I’ve done a quick Google search and the only thing I could find was mention of toxic chemicals in the water. Have I missed something?Im jealous as that's home, ie where I grew up. If you manage it and like seafood I can recommend Nancy's Barn in Ballyliffin! Beaches I'd recommend are: Narin / Portnoo, Downings, Culdaff and Carrickfinn.
Whatever you do enjoy, and don't go into Letterkenny unless you really have to :-/

Your warning about Letterkenny prompted me to, not only Google the place, but read the entry in my travel journey of my tour of Ireland in 2009. My observations of Letterkenny were quite favourable. I described the town as "looking quite prosperous and the locals very friendly". I even got a round of applause from some of them when I parked the motorhome in a tight spot. My husband would have liked to have spent longer there - mainly because he found a very good secondhand record shop. We had previously visited Ramelton(?), which is where the All Blacks' first touring captain was born, apparently.Maybe Im biased but it's changed a lot since I were a lad growing up there. Lost all the character of being a traditional irish town, dont get me wrong theres some nice stuff still there, cathedral etc, some nice pubs, a few good eateries (Yellow pepper at the bottom of the Main St, and the Lemon Tree round from Oliver Plunkett St) but other than that? Basically it's one big traffic jam :-(
Give your Bertie a race with my BertieMountain Biking tomorrow morning then planning a trip down south for a wedding, visit relatives etc.
Leaving Bertie behind with friends as he skids around on smooth surfaces.
