What are you up to this weekend?

Heading towards Stranraer for the ferry to Belfast. Got 11 days to see Northern Ireland and maybe Donegal, as we didn’t make it that far on our Ireland trip.

Im jealous as that's home, ie where I grew up. If you manage it and like seafood I can recommend Nancy's Barn in Ballyliffin! Beaches I'd recommend are: Narin / Portnoo, Downings, Culdaff and Carrickfinn.
Whatever you do enjoy, and don't go into Letterkenny unless you really have to :-/

Looks like we are going to hop on the trike and head over the border to San Sebastian from Saint Jean De Luz tomorrow, then Saturday we will visit the Rhune Rack Railway before a journey up the Pyrenees on Sunday :giggle:
Missed the train to La Rhune about 38 years ago, so decided to do the climb and descent on foot. Seemed like a good idea at the outset ...

What’s the problem with Letterkenny? I’ve done a quick Google search and the only thing I could find was mention of toxic chemicals in the water. Have I missed something? 🧐

Maybe Im biased but it's changed a lot since I were a lad growing up there. Lost all the character of being a traditional irish town, dont get me wrong theres some nice stuff still there, cathedral etc, some nice pubs, a few good eateries (Yellow pepper at the bottom of the Main St, and the Lemon Tree round from Oliver Plunkett St) but other than that? Basically it's one big traffic jam :-(

Your warning about Letterkenny prompted me to, not only Google the place, but read the entry in my travel journey of my tour of Ireland in 2009. My observations of Letterkenny were quite favourable. I described the town as "looking quite prosperous and the locals very friendly". I even got a round of applause from some of them when I parked the motorhome in a tight spot. My husband would have liked to have spent longer there - mainly because he found a very good secondhand record shop. We had previously visited Ramelton(?), which is where the All Blacks' first touring captain was born, apparently.
My journals tells me we wild camped at a marina development at Fahan. It was only partially built at the time and had millions of EU money invested in it. Twelve years later, I notice that it still isn't finished.
I must thank you for prompting me to re-live that wonderful tour. I'm off to get the photo albums out now! (Yes, we still print photos and put them into albums.)

Overnight at The Beeches near Tayside. Late evening walk and saw yet another Red Squirrel (becoming as common as muck ... 🙄) and a wee stretch of the legs to get my 10k steps in.

Lazy breakfast and then on to CAMH Rally at Laurencekirk. The first signs of Autumn, with the Van feeling almost chilly at night and the morning mist with heavy dew.

Camped out at my daughters very busy pub near Nefyn on the Lleyn, babysitting younger daughters son so she can help her sister on a manic bank holiday. Then hopefully new Motorhome will arrive next week and off to Croatia x

Push the trailer from up the side of the bungalow.. (Well Judy is)... Drive slopes down to the road...

I'm at home this weekend and will be making some lightweight blinds to go on our 2 large roof lights. The concertina blinds that are up there right now (mosquito and night blinds) become very floppy in the hot sun and end up falling out of the cassettes. We need the roof lights covered in strong sunlight to protect things from fading and also to protect our little dog when she's travelling on the seat (in a harness on the seat belt) as, when the sun's high, it shines right on her and she overheats :(

Visiting Shell Island in Wales. Weather good after days travelling around England with cold winds from the North. May know of this place but it was new to us. Sitting by van watching Porpoises swim past or climbing huge sand dunes. This place has excellent facilities including free hot showers. One of the largest sites in Uk. Room for 800 vans but no caravans. Wish you were here.

Had the van Mot’d and passed with flying colours and comments from the garage on what good condition it is in, especially as it’s 21 years old in December this year or January next year if we go by it’s registration date.
Very Very Happy Camper! 😊👍🎂🍾

I had a lovely mini meet with friends at the Talbot Inn, Knightwick Worcestershire. Free hook ups for 4 vans, lovely views and walks, and nice food too.
Oh and they have a microbrewery and bakery on site.:)

Fabulous weather too.
Back to work, weekend at home, and then Jim and Sians rally, and the Lincoln show to look forward to.
