What’s your favourite CAMC site and why?

Bunree for me. Those lochside pitches with mountain views are fantastic. Also lovely walks from the site, including to the Corran ferry and cross for free as a foot passenger, dogs too.

I am still quite new to this and I am surprised that so many campsites book up so far in advance. I thought the new deposit system was supposed to stop people block booking. I had imagined motorhome life to be a bit more spontaneous, which is a shame.

Good idea for a thread though. As a solo female traveller I feel safer in proper campsites. I spend ages looking through the guides trying to decide where to stay (in a good way). Another point of the motorhome was to explore places I had never visited before, that might not have occured to me, or you wouldn't spend a weeks holiday there.

Not been to many - Bristol is nice (good location) Sandringham, Brighton. That's about it I think. To me it's location that counts. Anything else is a bonus but I don't really need anything else so an empty as just as good! Oh- fresh water is handy if staying more than a day or 2. So mainly stayed in CL's or off grid when in the UK.

Trewethett Farm for the views and sunset. Been twice. Sea fog and a hurricane. Clumber Park for the woodland walks, rides and secure bike storage.
Just booked trewethett for June - if we get sea fog then it will look like Lanzarote where we are now - with a 2 day dust storm rolling in from the Sahara

St Agnes Head in Cornwall.

There was a mention of that on the weather forecast yesterday, apparently the potential for some good UK sunset pictures this evening given the sand in the atmosphere.

Carnon Downs near Truro.

Amazing facilities, cafe with events and visiting hot food vans.

Lovely walks from the site and buses to Falmouth, Truro and Newquay so the van can stay put.
What's the traffic noise like from the A39?

I like sites that are within easy walking of a village/town/city with at least a couple of dog friendly pubs [20-30mins]. Places like Castleton, Moreton etc

I've just rejoined C&CC and my impressions are that their sites are a little more remote - unless you know better and can recommend some locations?

Try Broadway. Not far from Moreton, but a nicer site in my view.

Give the Salisbury C&CC site a try - 30min. riverside walk into Salisbury, pub nearby, great dog walks, and terrific staff! (y)

We should start a similar C&CC thread!

Try some rallies, you cannot get safer than that with friends around you. 😀

Apologies for topic drift

Any Lake District and Yorkshire also private sites on the outer Hebrides / Orkney

Thanks for the suggestion, but not really my cup of tea. Prefer to do my own thing and get away from it all, but also know there are people around rather than plump for complete isolation

Try Broadway. Not far from Moreton, but a nicer site in my view.
Moreton is currently being done up ( one half at a time ) , all pitches being regravelled and more service pitches being installed . It’s a cracking little town .

A number of locations are quite special, but site arrangements and inflated prices can be a turn-off.

Don’t do club sites as a rule but have been to one c&mc, and one c&cc one. Our favourite by far is a c&mc one up in the highlands called Altnaharra..right on loch never. It’s a no thrills club site thankfully so more like a big CL 👍. Only been to one c&cc site too..that was Sandringham on a THS. Nice site as it goes but couldn’t do the big sites all the time, we like the simplicity of the five van sites and you don’t get the jobsworth wardens 😆😉

Not sure I have a favourite.... Ferry Meadows is close...ish and plenty to do, just got back from a long booked Castleton weekend.
We've done Broadway, Moreton etc but none stand out as a "favourite"
It seems, from the weekend, now many are unhappy with the "new" booking system and the "dynamic" pricing structure as I found while chatting at the weekend. We have found many of the CL's are nicer on pricing and facilities to be honest and we always take bikes anyway. We did book, over the weekend, for early July before the school holidays for a week, 5 on a CL and 2 on a club site and it's cheaper than the 4 nights we just did at Castleton...... I guess this year will be telling for the CAMC if numbers on sites drop and the pricing is modified as a consequence. We have just got back from Belgium on an equivalent site at €22 a night....
Safe Travels ...

We had a fantastic week at the Totnes Steamer Quay site. Easily walkable into the town which is stuffed full of great restaurants, takeaways and pubs. Also good walking along the river in multiple directions.

It’s a great site and location. Sadly just about to be wrecked by CMC development plans.
