We are currently at Abbey Wood London, fantastic site, 10 mins walk to Elizabeth line and access to all the sights.

But my favourite has to be Melrose, right in the town centre, great pubs and restaurants, fantastic walking and a supermarket at the end of the road. Add in friendly welcoming wardens and what more could you ask for?

What’s your favourite?

Hillhead. Lovely views. Bar/ restaurant. Buses outside to local towns
We haven’t been there, remember when it was commercial site. We stayed at Knaresborough on the way down to London, good Wayfarer restaurant serving food at decent price. Though we ate at Guy Fawkes Arms in Scotton village .

Incidentally, I learnt something when booking in to Abbey Wood. Maybe others already know but I didn’t …

I booked a hard standing pitch without awning - my 9m van wouldn’t fit in any of those. With a larger vehicle on CAMC always book pitch with awning as they are much bigger - the other pitches are Ines they literally squeeze in and can be very small.

I always book an awning pitch so I have room to tie the dog out. Same price so a no-brainer.

Must get that leak sorted out! 🤣

The only sites I use now (very rarely) are Abbey Wood or Crystal Palace for a London fix. Both offer easy access to London. Don’t like the Abbey Wood area much, particularly after dark, while Crystal Palace area is much more lively and interesting. However, Crystal Palace is living on borrowed time. Steamer Quay in Totnes was a nice site, but CAMC are poised to spoil it with refurbishment.

We love Chatsworth,it's in the original walled garden and you get a key to unlock the gate into the estate and then it's a lovely walk into Baslow where there are cafes and PUBS.🤗🤗🤗

However, Crystal Palace is living on borrowed time.
How long is that now that Crystal Palace been on borrowed time?. Sure we were there in 2016 and it was closing at end of year!
It's latest "stay of execution" is late 2024..👍👍

Long may its borrowed time continue. Trouble is, like Baltic Wharf, the situation prevents investment in the site and it’s looking a bit tired.

Not as tired as the old Crystal Palace site looked on its last week before closing (yep I was there fir a few days then) and moving to its current location.... Now that was tired 🤣🤣🤣

For myself I would say Cirencester but not necessarily for the campsite itself, i love to walk through the park westwards away from the town and towards Sapperton.
Once getting away from the crowds I have sometimes seen families of deer, who until the very last moment haven't seen me, then chaos when they do, before disappearing.
I usually make it to the Bell Inn in Sapperton, then decide if to go down the hill towards the Daneway Inn or return back.
The town of Cirencester itself is very likeable.
