We didn’t expect this! (NEC 2025)

I loved the Hymer in everything, especially that it comes with diesel as standard. The only exception was the seating arrangement - I wanted a long lounging area rather than the standard Euro layout. In our current van, I always end up reading in bed as it’s the only place I can slob out to do so. I was very worried about spending on a new van and not solving this problem.

When Eura said diesel heating was coming, and could be retro fitted, this van suddenly ticked all the boxes. My first contact with German manufacturer and I’m not getting the German quality vibes I expected.

Hymer jumping on the Xtura bandwagon with the big back plate......🤔

Nice one! Ours has still not arrived - Eura (and M&C) are busy doing a recall on the rear plate.

To be honest, if we son’t get it soon, I will be wishing we’d gone for October and a spec of our choice (leather seats, mostly).

We wanted the summer away, and are now diddling it away in fortnight chunks, not really going away, hoping each time for good news.

Hi Jane
We have also ordered an Xtura for delivery this Autumn.
Just interested what would be the spec of your choice and why in particular the leather seats? Do you not like the cream faux leather fitted standard or had you heard bad reports about the usability?
We have dark leather seats in our current van and ordered the extra cost grey leather in our Xtura but have yet been unable to see it in the flesh. We are beginning to wonder whether to change our order to the standard Trail as we do like the overall effect of the cream seating. It might not be practical but creates a nice effect and matches the other decor well.
Any news on a delivery date for yours?

Hi there, have you seen the leather in the flesh? It’s a very nice colour. I agree that the cream matches the cupboards better, but our main worry is that we have a large dog so cream and faux leather seemed like the wrong choice.

Our current decision is that we just recover with leather some time in the future, and with a choice of any colour we want.

Have you any news on when you’re getting your van? We sprung for ours quickly to get it maybe in April, definitely early June, and we’re now mid July with no certainty on our dates, so I’m starting to wish we’d gone for the October delivery too.

Hi,
Interesting reading, we accidently ordered one at the show too.....due in October as we opted for the 26 model.
Super Excited....

Hi Malin, we also ordered a 26 model at the show for an Autumn build and October delivery. Just spoken with M and C today and ours is currently scheduled for an August build. How about yours?
We have gone for the diesel heating, awning and more practical grey leather seating ( although not having seen the latter in the flesh and liking the overall effect of the standard cream wondering if we should change this).
What spec have you gone for?

We have not seen the grey leather in the flesh, that is one of our concerns. Have you seen it? Are there any other extras you want for your van?
I enquired with M and C (Jackson) today and apparently we are scheduled for an August build so that probably equates to an October delivery as originally told.
I can imagine your frustration at your unexpected delay. We were also tempted by the 2025 May delivery vans and probably would have ordered one of those but we deliberated over the decision for too long and missed out.
Please keep in touch, it will be helpful to compare notes as we go along. Have you seen the Facebook groups for the Xtura? Lots of information and user experience.
We are in Northamptonshire if you ever want to drop in and show your Xtura off once you get it.

HI, we have the standard vegan leather cream/white seats as no options available when we initially ordered. To be fair they have worn well and are easy to keep clean, as we both wear coloured jeans we decided to cover driver and passenger seats (with cheap vegan sheepskin) as from experience these are the seats that get the most wear and can discolour.

We did get a chance last August to change the order to the wool cloth (didnt really like) or a grey leather (preferred the vegan cream leather) that we saw at the EuraMobil factory but we decided to stick with the standard and if we want a change to use one of the reupholstery companies to get something we really like. We also thought we might change the seats to the decent Mercedes ones instead of the Agutti, which would require some reupholstery, this idea is still only a vague thought

Thank you for a very comprehensive answer from a very rare so far uk user. (Have you met another Xtura on the road yet?). I do appreciate your real life experience and gives us food for thought.
Very interesting your thoughts about swapping the seats. We have Agutti in our current Hymer which we both find extremely comfortable even on long drives. When we were looking to order an MLT my wife wanted to pay the premium to replace the Mercedes seats for the optional Agutti ones! Personal choice I guess.

Wot is vegan leather? Serious question as often heard spouted, but seems an oxymoron.

Animal hides form leather, said animals eat veggies, meat/waste human food in the case of pigs and ergo pigskin leather that used to be very exclusive and expensive.

Cows eat grass, we eat cows so are we then veggies?

Fake leather is oil based, which kind of negates the anti fossil fuel mob.

Then again diseasel powered, heavy bricks aka MotorHomes are not exactly dinosaur juice sippers.

Having asked all that Neil & Jacqui's Xtura looked the part when at Lyndon Top.

Do the internal wall panels and doors delaminate like the Hymer equivalent we looked over in Stafford, as did the iSmove there.

I wouldn't get too stressed about the non/faux/vegan/fake leather, it's not real leather but it seems a pretty good seat covering overall, vegan leather was the chosen description deliberately as it is an oxymoron.

So far I can confirm there has been no delamination of walls, panels or doors :giggle:

There are 2 others in the UK, have met one of them and keep in contact very useful when dealing with missing options and finding out how things work, also planning routes. We are surviving the Agutti seats and our faux fur seat covers, we actually ordered an MLT and had to really insist on keeping the Mercedes seats as the dealers wanted us to order the Agutti and an oven which we did not want, we have both now :cautious: turns out not quite as important as we thought :ROFLMAO:.

Same here, I flew over in the November to see him, expecting it to be the last time and he got the call in the January, sort of similar to now, I came over last may for his 80th, at this rate he might even get to his 81st
Just an update, my brother passed away on the 19th June, luckily i had already arranged to fly over on the 18th, so managed to chat for a couple of hours that afternoon, i think he had been holding out for me, as that evening in discussion with his doctor, he came of all medication except anything to make him comfortable, sad yes, but he got diagnosed with Pulmonary fibrosis at 61, and told he probably only had about another 3 years.

He managed to push that until he was 69, when he was accepted as a potential transplant patient, had a single lung transplant a couple of months before his 70th birthday, he was told that it hopefully would give him another 3-5 years, he pushed that to eleven, so from first diagnosis, he managed another 20 years, he was 81 when he died.

But during that time he traveled to and from Australia and New Zealand a number of times, so he made the most of the life had been given.

Back over to uk on wednesday for the funeral.

So sorry to hear that, Widge, but also so glad for him and you that he got so many more years than expected.

My brother continues very well with his transplant, passing all his rejection tests. He’s going away on Friday for a while in his caravan and really enjoying life. I hope he gets as much out of it as your brother did.

I added you to a secret chat we have about Xtura. Jackson@m&c has been a feature on there in the past :)

No Facebook for us but I think Neil is a member.

Hi S & L,

Sorry for slow response, had to cough up the £20 before it would let me reply.......hate parting with money....
Good to meet another Xtura owner/future owner.

That is amazing news you have a build date, I dont now how that relates to delivery date, but do please keep me informed.

So when we ordered ours the sticking point for me was the gas heater. We plan on travelling out of europe where gas is not so easy to get.

I was told that I could get one with gas sooner, and they would convert to diesel for £2K, or wait until approx delivery October, pay the extra 2k, but have factory fitted ALDE Heater (Which I believe now has been changed to a Timberline).

Extras we added:
Awning
Dual Control CS
No Oven
Extractor over hob
Extra Sockets in garage
External shower
Provision for compost toilet
Grey Leather (the sample looked more like S#1t brown, but whatever), the videos I have seen looks nice.
Extra Battery fitted in factory to ensure stays within the door.
Extra solar panel
All round drivers cab curtain
Third bed option
Duck board in shower

I am intrigued to find out if we get the heated windscreen, that would be looooovely.

Cheers Mal & Lin

We bought from dealer stock as we wanted to get away immediately, back in January. Given the choice we would have taken the £2000 option for leather seats. We’re not really happy with the cloth ones so are getting front and rear seats recovered in leather. It’s being done by Seat Surgeons just north of York. We have been quoted around £1700. They can complete the work in a day, but the lead time is 4-6 weeks.

I hope they do a good job but their clientele includes expensive classic cars and the like, so fingers crossed. We’ll know at the end of the month.
Apologies for further interruption to this thread. Just an update on the above work.

The front and rear seats were redone yesterday in leather. The work took about 7 hours, most of which was spent on the armrests as they did not have a template for those. It seems manufacturers are always making minor changes to armrests, headrests etc. causing grief for upholsterers.

I was also unaware that special sewing machines and stiching is required where airbags are embedded in seats. So I can better understand the costs now.

The folk at this company, which is in the middle of nowhere, drive you to the nearest shopping mall on the outskirts of York. There’s a park ‘n ride there so you can hop into York while waiting for work to be done.

Bottom line is we’re happy with the work, and the service provided.
