I’ve had a Wastehog for a couple years now but as anyone who also has one will know it’s extremely heavy when full, it feels like lifting the full 46kg off the ground. I’m conscious that if I accidentally dropped the thing on a hard surface whilst wheeling it to the waste it’d probably split. Either way it’s a very heavy thing to drag along.

I’m thinking of having a wheeled dolly fabricated to hold the upper end by the handle whilst moving it to the waste, has anyone already made such a thing, any suggestions? I’m thinking of using large golf trolley wheels like the ones fitted to the bottom as they’ll be needed on grass pitches.

Thanks folks I’m aware there are other grey waste containers out there so don’t need suggestions on other products, I‘m happy with the Wastehog if I can sort out a dolly.

Serious suggestion
How about a motor mover/electric tug

Look a bit of a pratt, but would solve your issue.

Absolutely not...
Yours was a very sensible suggestion - albeit not one the OP wanted to hear.
It is the OP who has taken a sarcastic tone with his responses.

I’m looking for design suggestions not sarcasm, thanks.

I didn’t understand it was a motorhome and not a caravan when I bought it, and that there are wholly different rules for the two, I apologise for my ignorance.

The majority of replies are totally irrelevant, patronising at best, and offer no help whatsoever with the problem, so why were the posted at all?

It’s very sad to read that due to a handful of people posting completely irrelevant replies and me questioning them that I’m somehow at fault. Surely if anyone doesn’t have an answer to a serious question why post anything at all, is it just to keep up their post count or be seen, I fail to see how that helps?

My apologies for posting a serious enquiry on a fun site, I’ve read loads of others where people have wanted help, as I did, and didn’t suffer the rubbish I’ve had.

Deary deary me.

Thing is though, the op is almost a windup, people have been emptying these things for fifty odd years and never come up with the problem before , and the answer is obvious, but when someone suggests it, he takes offence and gets uptight about nothing, why? What did he expect to happen if there is the simple option of emptying it more often, or moving the van to the emptying point, what else can you do.
If he is going to park up for a fortnight at a time, he doesn't really use a motorhome to its full benifit, and has even converted it to not work like it should.
But to then say people are being sarcastic for stating the obvious is just not being true to the fun element of this forum and not helping his question.

Well I think you all missing a trick here... you should only fill container until it is half empty....it would then be MUCH lighter than if you were to half fill it.

The waste hog is a poor design. I have one and wish I’d bought a wastemaster. I’ll probably succumb and change in due course as it’s a slipped disc waiting to happen trying to pick up the handle when full as it’s flat to the floor with no room to get your fingers under! It was my mistake and should have known better!

I can’t think of anything sensible that has not already been mentioned.

You need to expect some banter and weird comments on here; it’s part of the culture of Fun. Just ignore what you want to and soak up what you do and chill!

I have a jerrycan and per the illustration in Janine's post on page 1 for when no convenient drive-over. Rarely get it low enough to completely fill it, so not too heavy and cheaper than a gym membership.
