WARNING! NEW Mobile Phone Laws

Only if it answers automatically and cancels at call end.you can't touch it

Along with speaking to passengers. Exactly the same.

You can't touch it.

The people who don't have the time to waste stopping and standing outside for a fag.

And? They also need to remember their shift ends at sometime

Yes that is the problem with writers . Many write rubbish.

You mean like he might not be wanting to see me at his house either? & no it wouldn't be "threat" but a promise.

And that is only because they allow complete moronic half wits to drive who shouldn't be allowed out walking. If you aren't a vehicular aficionado and worship the ice vehicle and its invention, if you think it is a type of motorised walking or a means of getting from A to B ,then you should be banned from any vehicular driving sine die.

Yes most love a lecture on there perceived view of what they alleged you have committed.

As above they shouldn't be driving. The only way to prevent them is broken legs.

Yes,just tell them not to run in to me. Id still be beating them 3 weeks next Tuesday fortnight.

Advice or a diatribe?

And there's just as many in the job who specialise in it.

For me, back in the late 70's I'm n London having to deal on a daily basis at our factory with 40 or 50 male coppers ,continually asking for free product,(All okay by the owner as they were "useful mates", ) who were the most hypocritical bunch of two faced crooks you would ever come across. And who, when confronted about their hypocritical attitude would think nothing of issuing both veiled &direct threats.
Fortunately it didn't work with me as I have photographs of them all.
*One day my production controller pointed out that between 5 &7% of our weekly production went out foc in police cars, vans, on foot etc
That was 15 to 22,000 items.
That's only one instance.

Yes that's another problem, then want to get funny when you pull them up on it.
Phew!!! That took some reading, brain scrambled now !!

Trying to touch anything inappropriately whilst driving would mean a court appearance………..

Agree 100%....how could anyone accept being patronised by a a member of an organisation that is basically morally corrupt?

The days of respecting the old bill are long gone, and unfortunately fo them, they are a victim of their own actions. They reep what they sow in terms of commanding the respect of the public.
I do not disagree there is real issues with the culture within the police force.......However there are some decent ones and when you need then you really do need them. Its not a Job I would undertake. Having had a couple of interactions with the police 👮 as victims of Crime have been good ones. I say this as a white middle class guy and would like to think that those officers would deal with all sections of society in the same way , some probably do but we need all of them to do this.

I think you had an unfortunate typo there.

Did you mean 'decent'?

Ive been pulled over many times for no good reason.

One memorable example was two cops pulling me over in a vw camper on my own street 5 doors away from my house blue lights and a blip of the siren .
Two plod get out one older one young ....straight off the batt the old one says its ok sir no problem the young lad is thinking of buying one and wanted a look .

I would think many people say "Ive been pulled over many times for no good reason." when in fact there was a perfectly reasonable reason, which of course they don't think should apply to them. If there was a survey on here, which I won't be starting, I think the vast majority have never been pulled over for anything, a minority have been pulled over just once or perhaps twice in their years of driving.

I don't know if it's an age thing, when I was young I remember getting pulled often but I now cannot remember the last time.
I did get breathalysed once but that was because I drove up to a cop to ask directions 😄

I was stopped on the M4 in Wiltshire late at night. I thought here is a breathalyser coming and I was not sure if I was OK. The officer next to the car said nothing about drinking, just saying they had to check cars for being legit. I gave my name and address. His oppo was on the radio. After a couple of minutes it was sorry to keep you Sir, have a safe journey, and I was on my way.

Obviously everything checked out OK. Fair do, as the reason they gave was genuine. Maybe a similar car had been reported stolen nearby.

I think now they have equipment that can check all about the vehicle while on the move without a stop, unless there is something wrong.

They can check tax, insurance and MOT but the only way to check if you have been drinking or have dugs in your system is to stop you. There may be other reasons that the police may not share with you, for example a similar vehicle is being sought as it was involved in a non stop accident or some crime or other. Your number plate doesn't matter since those dastardly criminals stoop so low as to have plates made up with the details from similar cars they have seen in an effort to make as nicked car look legit. So I suppose the bottom line is you were stopped, one officer spoke with you while the other did a radio check, all was ok, you were given an apology and wished a safe journey. You were hardly inconvenience and took it in good part. Others may have been spitting feathers thinking they were being picked on.

Was breathalysed at the station coming home from work during the Christmas period the police were doing checks so if people were over they wouldn’t get in the car….can’t moan about that. Another time I was pulled over for slowing down, they asked why I had slowed I explained I had spotted a car a person and a visabiliy jacket and considered there may be an issue/hazard which they were fine with but in reality I thought it was a speed trap which it was 😎👍. Another time I was in the US and was speeding 60 in a 50 and a big white ford coming towards me turned followed and put his blue lights on. I was as polite and grovelled and got away without a speeding fine (or being arrested).

To be honest most police a pretty much like you and me we probably all know dodgy people we have worked with and it’s those characters in the police that need weeding out.

This triggered my memory of being stopped by customs at Holyhead on our way to Ireland. The officer said he was interested in buying a Motorhome and asked a few questions about it and holidaying.
Was that his real reason or not? I don’t know but 2 minutes later we were driving onto the ferry so didn’t think any more of it.

By the way, as part of the IAM advanced driving courses, when stopping at traffic lights you are advised to keep monitoring behind you (in case a following driver isn’t trying to stop!) and to do a quick check of the dash for water temperature, amount of fuel left etc etc. Then watch the junction and traffic flow to be aware where red light jumpers could come from, pedestrians may cross, and if you will be able to move when the lights change.

I am not sure why you posted. I did not complain about the stop, in fact I said the reason given was genuine and and said it was OK. I also said that they were not interested in drink. Of course what they did get from the stop was my name and address which obviously checked with 'Keeper'

I thought that was normal for any one driving? & why I tend to leave an exit gap in front in case it's needed.

It should be! "Tarmac and tyres" was recommended as if you can see the tarmac behind the rear wheels of the car in front you can probably pull round it if necessary. Passing the test to get a driving licence shows you can operate a car. organisations such as ROSPA and the IAM coach people in how to use a vehicle to minimise risks and have passengers who arrive at the destination feeling relaxed - not arrive thanking god they survived the trip

Especially when in the motorhome I normally make sure I'm in lane one of a motorway if in standing traffic queues so I have the hard shoulder (if there still is one) as an escape option

One of the smoothest, safest and quick journeys I ever had was in a taxi. The Journey took about an hour and a half on B roads there were several overtakes almost did not notice the guy has done this. At the end of the journey I complimented the driver and asked where he learnt to drive that way…turned out he was ex special branch, if I employed a chauffeur I would want it to be him.

Did you ask him if he was 'carrying'?
