Visio

Another two to look at is Dia and draw.io I use both. I did look at yed but it is not opensource and worse still runs in Java :(

I don't commit to commercial software for the most part because they tend to go online and subscription based and ramp up the price.
Opensource means stability for years/decades. I am getting too old to keep relearning new software :D

Yed is the only free one. It's not bad but nowhere near as powerful as Visio. I have Visio in my 365 business subscription but used Yed a few times.

i thought it was an add on, even for the business package ?

If it's included in your's would you mind letting me know what package you have as I have been looking at adding it.

thanks
Graham

Will when I get home. I thing it's just 365 business. Had it since about 2012 I think.

Will ahve another look though. Thanks

Hi Graham. Sorry , meant to answer this yesterday and then had unexpected visitors.

The invoice simply says
Microsoft 365 Business Standard and costs me £10:30 pm. I've had it since 2014.

Visio is one of the products 365 lets me download and install.

Hopefully this helps. and apologies for forgetting ..... Robin

Good god Robin no apologies needed.

Appreciate you finding the information for me. Thanks 🙏

Will look into my subscription, I pay annually so not sure if that makes a difference, it shouldn’t. But will look into Visio a bit more as was pretty sure it was an additional cost for me.
Maybe it was included when you originally took it out and as a result it’s a legacy add on. Mine is from 2017.

Thanks again
Graham

Is there a free , stanalone alternative to Visio?

TIA
Yep 😊

Libre Office Draw 👍

A very powerful piece of Open Source Software completely free.

More powerful than Visio these days

I was a huge fan of Visio for 20 years or more using it every day and still use it occasionally today.

It was hugely versitile and intuitive to use in it's day.

But typical Microshaft, they bought a great piece of software and let it stagnate.

Have a look at this YouTube video introduction on Libre Office Draw.

There's not much you can't do with this bit of software and it has a lot more to offer than Visio these days.

But, each to his own poison 😂

I loaded Libre Office when I got my new PC and was surprised at how much it has in it. It is a good replacement for MS Office and is compatible to all the MS products and it is FREE

I've used LibreOffice since I switched from Windoze to Apple. Never had occasion to use Draw. Just had a quick look to confirm that it's on there.
