Morning Funsters
Has anyone fitted a fan behind the fridge for extra ventilation in hot weather? Are they successful?
Just out of curiosity and any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.

I'm fitting one at the moment... Didn't want to pay for an overpriced kit, so I've designed and printed my own.I fitted a simple fan kit to my previous āvan. I added an on/off switch in case, but it worked fine and did reduce the fridge temp / energy to keep it cold while in Spain.
I have a 12v compressor fridge now so no vent.
If you only use your van in the UK, you probably donāt need one.
This is our current setup which certainly helps in extreme heat ....Morning Funsters

I always thought you didnāt need fans or vents on compressor fridges??I've fitted one on the last two vans to assist the existing one on a compressor fridge. These I have controlled with either fixed or adjustable thermostats, two speed levels, slow via a resistor fast with the resistor shorted out.
Workes well in hot weather rarely needed in UK temperatures.

YesHas anyone fitted a fan behind the fridge for extra ventilation in hot weather?
VeryAre they successful?
Why do you have the controller outside? I have mine above fridge and next to a digital fridge temperature gauge so I can easily adjust the cutin/out fan temps.Very easy to do with 4 x6" computer fans and a thermostatic switch which cuts in when the air temp hits a preset figure. Whole cost of bits around Ā£20.View attachment 918396View attachment 918400![]()

Depends what fridge you have. Dometic can supply fans that fit top and bottom, thermostatically controlled and connected to the electrics. Not tried yet, but ready for Spain later this year.Morning Funsters

Waeco/Dometic compressor fridges have a built in fan and radiator. Modern versions are 'cross flow' across the top of the back of the fridge. I have fitted ventilation either side of the enclosure with additional fan assistance thermostatically controlled to assist the original fitment when the ambient temperature demands it.I always thought you didnāt need fans or vents on compressor fridges??

@Lenny HB I've fitted an Honeywell CO detector today and the instructions say for a caravan or motorhome do not fit in the kitchen living area but where you sleep. It shows the alarm sitting on a shelf at the side of the bed, so I double sided taped mine to the overhead wall units. John. I...www.motorhomefun.co.uk
Very impressive in the past I have just taken the vent panels off to allow more air flow but I like your set upA great many Funsters have fitted fans to draw air out from the top fridge vents to improve the fridge cooling, here's my home brew setup.

Looked at it so little room behind the fridge with the 10 series fridge not practical to get the cables down will have to use the less efficient method of fans blowing in at the bottom.Lenny, what are you doing ref a vent fan in your Carthago seeing as the upper 'vent' goes through the roof?
