Has anyone fitted a fan behind the fridge for extra ventilation in hot weather? Are they successful?
Just out of curiosity and any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.

Thanks for all the help and advice, we have now fitted twin fans behind top vent and set the switch to 'auto' - just waiting for some warm weather, hopefully it will be better at the end of the month when we go to France.

Where do you fix the temp sensor?
To work correctly , the temp sensor must be touching the condenser tube on the heating element side as arrowed in pic .

Mine are fitted behind the grille, I have wondered if they would obstruct flow when not running, but I can tell how effective they are when running just by feeling the heat flow through the grille. What sort of power do they consume?

Between 100 and 400ma each depending on manufacturer. So not much. 👍

In the process of fitting fans to mine.
If the temp sensor is fitted touching the condenser tube do you know what the temperature settings should be as I have no idea what temperature they operate at. Thanks

Depends where on the condenser tube. The cool side can be warm but not hot. Mine was set on 42°c I think

This is the bit of the instructions from our kit showing the temperatures, reduced speed at over 28°c and full speed at 50 ° c

Mine I have set at 44° cut in &38° cut out. Seems yo work well except at home when they tend to run continuously with high ambient temps.

I don't agree I have found that it works much better with the sensor above the condenser tube, on the last two vans I have fitted it on a strip of alloy between the fans.

You only get a true reading of the condenser tube temperature if the sensor is touching the tube and fins, whereas if the sensor is mounted above the fins, then the air flow temperature is influenced by the ambient temperature of the air being drawn in through the bottom vent.

The position that the sensor is mounted along the condenser tube is important as you are looking for the transition point just before at which the refrigerant is changing from its vapour state back to a liquid.

Reading these post so glad I’ve fitted the new Thetford T2160 compressor fridge freezer.
It’s in a different league to 3 way fridges. Apparently next year Autotrail are fitting standard lithium and compressor fridges 👍

Several other makes have been fitting compressor fridges for a while now , including Bailey on some models, but with AGM batteries !!!

I'm happy to go with the manufacturer's recommendation.

Yes a lot of people have used computer fans with a thermostat.

Fan should suck air out away from the heat exchanger.

Yep you could , it's not the best solution but works , extracting out at the top vent is best .

Are you sure? A fridge of any kind is still trying to exchange heat from one area to another. If the outside is hot surely that’s going to hinder it?
Hi right my compressor fridge has two vents at the front you can feel warm air coming out of one side when the compressor is on but it isn’t noisy at all .

You don’t need fans with compressor fridge you need to block the vents up
Yes I've blocked the flu hole also blocked the slits on the winter covers and fitted them on. The fans are left in place 1 because I like them 🥰 and 2 were going to Spain next month 🥵
