Vehicles used for habitation.

I don’t particularly like them and I drive them, but I don’t see why tax money should be given to them for free parking when there is me and plenty of better causes that need the money. The driver cpc is just a tax why is that not free?
Well you could argue that the motorway services etc shouldnt be charging so high prices for them to park
Even the fuel in those places is extortionate

But ordinary laybys are being closed or being removed

In europe in nearly every country I've seen hundreds of huge laybys for lorries to park and cars etc that aren't attached to petrol stations and are free and even the ones that are attached are free

I've stopped in a few and had lunch here and there.

Everything in the uk is about massive profit...

I'd also like to know how if we are tied to EU standards and pricing and supposedly green issues , how come out of the 13 countries I've been in this year every one bar the uk the diesel is cheaper than the petrol ? And it's cheaper overall ....even france I think is about the same cost as uk but still diesel cheaper than petrol

Yet britain is an oil rich country ?

We basically just get ripped off left right and centre

I wonder what they have to pay in rates alone for an area the size of a motorway services plus the lease that the government charges them . A little place here’s about 1700 to 1800 a year rates so lord knows how much they pay.

Once again though more money to the government....passed on to the motorist.

So you can hardly blame them passing the costs on , is that not how buisness works.
But that's the point ...it comes back to the government not providing an alternative. pushing the trucks on to the high cost services that they charge extortionate rates on that in turn the services charge extortionate rates for parking. fuel and even a cup of coffee , so the government makes millions it squanders, the fuel stations make millions they bank offshore , don't pay full tax on etc etc etc. Meanwhile average Joe having to use them is getting ripped off every way possible while having no other choices

Good old blighty

Whereas all the other eu countries have free parking , cheaper fuel. Cheaper food and coffee etc lol

But uk is great ?

Kind of like that good old camping and caravanning act that stops us using car parks etc and pushes us on to sites owned by councillors lol

What we need in the uk is a good old riot and some politicians burned at the stake

Maybe then the next lot would maybe help out the average man and not the millionaire businesses

But we can all dream I suppose

As a thought why not charge all hgv owners say £3000 a year each motor they own
I think they do already,:unsure:it's called road tax
Or should care workers all be given free cars
I think they are better off with there own & mileage allowance
A little place here’s about 1700 to 1800 a year rates so lord knows how much they pay.
& there is the problem. Since rates went & were replaced by the failed poll tax, then reappeared called "council tax" 18 months later & two & a half times dearer ,councils have taken the piss on an industrial scale with 'council tax & business rates. The amounts charged are onerous in the least & i certainly wouldn't even consider any business where paying them anything was involved.

I've been saying that for years. Mad Max is what we could do with.

The right to buy was a conservative central government scam to get money( Madam T)!!!!

Yes, only ten per cent went to the local council, so how could they build new houses as prices of the houses being sold was very low below the true value.

Ten percent of little is very little hence the needy do not have housing at a reasonable cost.

Please note this is not a political comment just the truth that has been hidden for a long time.

Ooh... I like the sound of that.
It's sad times but I honestly think it's the only way these days to remind government and politicians that they are actually elected and employed by us and are meant to benefit the whole country not just the elite and the rich.

They say violence etc never fixes anything but is getting so corrupt doing it the right way doesn't either.
No wonder so many get frustrated.

One of the reasons I finally gave up, By that time I was only doing 2 or 3 days on Agency. and the rewards where not worth it any more. (and I had the chance to travel the USA for months on end!(y))

Not to this voter it wasn`t. I knew about that, back when it was first happening. We where evaluating council properties for Asbestos, and one of the Council guys, was really steamed up about it.

It is a political comment ......but that's the thing...everything in life involves politics
Because everything we do from the moment we are born is controlled by politics.

In that case it is up to the business owners to work together, through their trade body, to provide for their requirement in the interests of their businesses.

Won`t happen, unlike the Motorhome community, who do have facilities "provided" courtesy of the the CCC and CC. (no tongue in cheek smiley), The problem being they are not (with a small number of exceptions) convenient as "stopovers". And of course then you have the large numbers of "independents", FLT`s, call them what you will, to contend with. Co-ordination is next to impossible. same with the above mentioned trade bodies.

I beleive the last "petition", for "Aires" (paid or otherwise) did not even achieve enough for recognition never mind getting near any debate!.

If it won't happen because haulage businesses won't co-ordinate efforts then it can't be that important to them can it?
Same with motorhome "stopovers". Until people are willing to put effort into provision that won't happen.
Both no more than whinge points at the moment :)

The proceeds of VED are now supposed to be used to fund the main road network.

I have emphasised the Supposed. The vast majority disappears into general taxation making the "motoring public" the most Taxed section of the Population, And that is before Such things as "fines" for alleged parking and moving traffic violations are added. (mainly yet another tax).

Which is basically what I said the Numbers don`t support it, The "gaffers" are not the one`s having to cope with the harassment on a Daily basis. Nor are they the one`s who get the Censure from the traffic commissioners when exceeding driving time or not complying with "rest" periods. BUT they are the ones getting on the phone to the cab complaining that a Customer is waiting for delivery!. Ie; like on one "famous" occasion when I was stuck on the M1 within 2 miles of the exit for 3hours, we could see the exit, the hard shoulder was clear, but we where threatened with prosecution if we tried to get off!!!. That took some explaining!. (and a forced night out).

So blame your current government. The decision to channel the funds rather than keep it part of general taxation was made in 2015. As for fines, long may the volunteers keep the cost down for the rest of us :D2

Oh dear. What does it take to get through? That confirms that this is a problem for the industry, not for the general taxpayer to subsidise.
When will people realise that supporting Corbyn's nanny state to do everything for them is not the answer?
