Using your motorhome through the winter

Would love to hear your hints and tips please

I'd be happy to share what we've learned. I don't know what format to use though if Jim is going to do an article on it. Perhaps I could just do a thread on our Norway trip and put some photos up with tips included?

Definitely use mine all year round.
4-5 weeks skiing. Usually Austria
Just back from a week in Cornwall and back again next week for a cookery course. In between days away in Wales, Forest of Dean or london.

York for us over Xmas, lakes beginning of Dec and a rally in Southport next weekend. However, do tend to not go with snow on the ground. Don’t mind it if it snows whilst there.

Would love to hear your hints and tips please
Ooh! yes please...did you see the latest blog from the indie project..they are promoting a ferry pass for norway that you pre load with money and they say it can be used on all norwegian ferries giving a 40% to 50% discount... autopassferje.no anyone used this? and should the information be posted elsewhere on the forum (if it's any good)

This year we had five nights at Seafield Caravan Site, Seahouses and five nights in the New Forest, both in January. We went back to Seafield in February. We have Seafield booked again for January 2020 and four nights in Norfolk booked for February.

We stay out as much as we can over the winter ... mainly recording videos for our You Tube channel but we do love winter camping in Ireland

We are just back from a weekend in Arbroath, topping up the freezer with fish. Planning a trip to France in a few weeks, to stock up for Christmas.

A small group of six of us have a week on Chester Fairoaks as soon as low season rates kick in after Christmas (usually second week in January).

Any pics of motorhomes being used in snow and ice would be great (y)

Watch this space Jim, its trying to snow here right now & the surrounding hills are already topped with snow, I cant resist being away in inclement weather.
I cannot see the point in owning a motorhome & only using it in the summer.

I've always been a bit of a stargazer & the motorhome affords me the chance to enjoy the sights on a clear cold winters night, then back into our motorhome with the lovely heating turned on, time for a hot chocolate, sheer Bliss.

Broken Link Removed

We have been using this site for some years now. There is a bus service close by into Brugge town centre which is free at weekends in December.

We’ve often gone to brugges for a pre Christmas weekend. You can walk to the town from memlin. Enjoyable cycle round the town wall as well.

We came back from Spain at the end of September due to ill health of a family member, so we are currently moving around the UK. We are spending the time in a mixture of wild camping-tonight on the beach - , pub stops, (generally very expensive!!) house sitting and CL's
We did our first house sit In Lincolnshire a couple of weeks ago. We looked after a deaf, Old English Sheepdog--hard work, but he was quite a character. Next week we are house sitting in Lymington, so hopefully can give the van a wash and clean out the water system.
Photos of our house sit dog, view from Porchester Castle today and weather drawing in over the beach.

I haven't seen indie project but did look into discounts for ferries but we're too big at 7.5 tonne. I believe there are savings to be made if you're smaller though.

Cant believe you're still in the one spot.

reading the first couple of paragraphs same in uk ... anecdotally it can often be presence of local campsites (some owners also bring on local councils) which causes negative response to ‘freedom campers’.
Trouble with that in uk is few sites open over winter.

It's our first time at Oxford, we're on the C&CC site.

It's about £12 a night without EHU. We are members.
The CCC have winter pitches for five months costing just over £6.00 day with electric .Variable depending on what site but about as cheap as it's possible considering 240v heating and cooking.
