useful tip if you have any string

But what if it’s to long.

You make a sheepshank silly!

Would it be acceptable to use different types of string or does it have to be the same thickness, material etc?

Don't want to tie myself up in knots worrying about it!

Take said longer piece of string and thread each end through a drilled hole in the bottom of two empty bean cans. Voila, mobile phone. (y)

Ah, but does it work with different types of string and/or those with lots of knots in?

The type of string isn't an issue, however, if it's knotted the phone call just takes a little longer to get through. I have one of these phones, stops me being tied to one network.

Now knotalot of people knew that except maybe in knotyash :)

This thread is getting longer and dafter and tying everybody up in knots.
Some folk are having a ball though.:LOL::LOL:

I love those, slow cooked with mashed potatoes and plenty of mint sauce. If you have short pieces of string use these to hold the meat on the bone

The complete absence of any emoji might lead one to believe that you are serious! ;)

Dear doctor. I have a hitch ...

It does not work with wire or hoses :(

I'm told this is absolutely true. A guy clearing the loft after his mother died found a small box labelled "Pieces of string too short to be of any use"

There are several variations ;)

I once read a Top Tip letter in the Caravan and Camping magazine from a guy who would go to the site toilets in the middle of the night and then be unable to find his way back to his van. He suggested to others who had similar problems to tie a piece of string to the van, walk to the toilets with it and then follow the string back to the van! His wife must have been annoyed with the other 5 old fellas who followed the string back to her bed.

Such useful hints and tips. We need more threads like this. String a few together and you have a Topic.
Diabalo - good to hear that one again. How are we on the usefulness of elastic bands?

Using the above mentioned string and some simple levers it's possible to turn on your bathroom taps from downstairs!(y)

Just to clarify as to what size a piece of string is when it becomes useful -

- for a piece of string to be useful it must measure twice as long as half its length.

You may want to check if this thread is twice as long as half of it ...
