Need to bin the Calor and fit gaslow refillable bottles. Don’t forget to get the European adapters. Gas is freely available in Europe to top up

Best to leave one calor at home and buy a repsol propan bottle plus adaptor in Spain and connect to your regulator. Use that bottle as a priority and just exchange it keeping the calor as a back up. But if you can afford it a refillable system is a better choice. Lpg everywhere.

If your staying in one place for a while a refillable can be inconvenient. Having to upsticks and move to fill up. But if you connect a local bottle you can change that easily. Most campsites arrange for a gas truck to deliver refill / exchange bottles on a regular basis

You CANNOT get calor motorhome bottles in spain and a lot of places in Europe
You will need to buy a 15kg orange bottle and regulator xxx

There are three European adapters if you have a setup for LPG (GPL in Europe) from petrol stations. One for France and Italy, one for Spain and Portugal and another for Germany. Ensure you have the one you need whilst still in this country! It’s the way to go; even if only for peace of mind that gas becomes easily available.

If weight conscious then Alugas as, we have. In Spain most good camp sites stock Cepsa gas bottles and adapters.

The cheapest and quickest option is just to buy a s/h Spanish bottle and swop over the bottle adapter.
Refillable bottles are an option and will pay you back over time but even that has a drawback as Jim says above you need to move off site once the bottles are empty and drive to get refilled.

If you have Butane bottles now then if you buy a "spanish jumbo adapter" to take with you it's simply a case of removing the UK clip on adapter from the end of the hose and screw on the spanish one. Connect to a Repsol or Cepsa bottle and feed via the onboard bulkhead regulator that you already have... There is a method to use a Spanish regulator, hose and BBQ connector and feed in via the BBQ point if you have one BUT I think the frst option is better and safer. Plus it's safe storage for the bottle and help protect it on the cold mornings.
You can usually loacted a used Spanish bottle via campsite boards, car boots, Rastro's or look on local Facebbok selling groups.

Each European country has their own bottles which cannot be exchanged outside that country, similar to Calor. The only replaceable bottles that you will find throughout Europe is the tiny Camping Gaz bottles. They will cost you a fortune and will are butane, so no good when the weather gets cold.

The best way is to ditch your Calors and fit refillable system bottles like Gasit or Gaslow. Lots of autogas filling points in most of Europe. Otherwise you will find yourself having to hand over bottles before leaving each country and buying anew in the next country. You will also end up with a lot of adaptors.

As anyone fitted the glass fiber bottles at half the weight
Yep. I've got two Safefill refillables. They do not however have remote filling, not that I've found it a significant problem. GasBank, however do have a separate filling point and will also save a fair bit of weight over a Gaslow system.

Campingaz is a butane/propane mix and can be used in cold weather.

The only bottled gas available around Europe even in supermarkets, I usually carry a 907 bottle 'just in case'

That's great both my Gaslow will be out of date in July So will be an ideal time to change

We’ve just completed 90days around Spain & Portugal, we bought an LPG (Safefill bottle) before departing. Just fill, connect and away you go, refilling is cheap and easy, LPG (GPL) is available in most petrol stations and you take the bottle out and connect.
The idea of getting a Spanish/Portugal gas bottle and connector is good, but if you’re going to do an EU trip again, your own LPG is easier.

the OP's motorhome already has a 30millibar standard bulkhead regulator already fitted .
you only need a suitable pigtail and Spanish gas bottle connector commonly know as a "Jumbo connector"

We did that earlier this year and with one full 6k cylinder. Shouldn't need more than that if you use EHUs on sites.

We did 10 weeks in Europe and had 2 x 6kg full Calor gas bottles with us. We didn't use one whole one - but we don't have an outdoor gas barbeque, just an oven / hob and fridge.

I would say that is very low usage. We do 12 weeks with 2x11kg mostly off grid and will do 2-3 fills with oven hob and large fridge freezer.
Now that is misleading a bit as a bottle empties we will top up but 6kg for 10 weeks is low. In my opinion.
We have down sized to smaller fridge but we have a 25kg underslung on this van so we will see if the fridge makes a difference

It was our first ever trip in our motorhome and I was expecting to use more. Truth is, that first bottle expired in September. We don't use the oven much - the 3 gas rings get the most usage. Obviously, the fridge is only on gas when we aren't on a site.

You may think refillable are an expensive option. However, there is no need to have a double bottle system with autochanger like many suggest. I just have one Gaslow refillable bottle. I keep a Calor for emergency back up but haven't used it in 3 years. In Europe most garages have LPG so you can always fill up before you run out. A bit like you do with petrol/diesel for your car.

Gaslow 11KG is around £190 for the bottle. £15 for the hose. No professional fitting needed. If you want an external fill kit another £100 ish. Also possible to DIY fit if you have basic DIY skills. If you do lots of travelling you'll make that money back as it's less than half the price of Calor.
