Uprating Vehicle - Has Anyone Done It Themselves (not Via Svtech)

Finally received my V5C correctly updated sent of in August lost in post claimed £20 compensation from royal mail, so got my upgrade for £72 thank you again MinxyGirl.

John is clearly catching on as what started out as £72 has risen to £142

His fee seems to vary. I paid John £94 last July for documentation to uprate my Hymer to 3500kg.

Maybe his fees reflect how much work he has to do for the upgrade that's the reason for different prices, possibly

No he has simply upped the price because he knows he is still much cheaper than the competitors

Or maybe he gives a price based on your postcode? :(

Still a good deal though. He uprated mine from 5t to 5.5t in November for £142.

John reckons he can up plate me to 4750kg :Eeek: That is value for money :clap2:

The 'new' price may reflect the fact that more and more people are asking him to do the work so whereas before it might have been the odd one now and then which he fitted in, as he's having to do more now it will take him away from doing other things which probably pay more, so the cost has to be made more viable for him. I did think he was doing it a bit too cheaply anyway!

My fault I suppose for letting you lot know about him in the first place! :D

I'm assuming that the weight offered by John entails the rear 2400kg Alko being raised to 2500Kg and the front 2100kg being raised to 2250kg which I can only guess is due to the previously fitted VB springs.

I sent him an email if he responds he's better than svtech who I emailed 3 weeks ago and still no response. If he responds he'll get my business aschool and when I need it.

Did you use the new address I posted as his original one had been hacked, you should use the one starting truckcon ...

Thanks no did not see it will receive send email. Thanks

Luckily at 4250kg I'm in no hurry for an up plate but for £142 I'll happily take another 500kg after my holiday :D
If only SVTech had a two tier fairer pricing system, their loss good luck to John (y)

He's raised my rear axle to 2650kg front has remained unchanged.
I have made no alterations
Paperwork going to DVLA today

My documents were received by DVLA on 7th of June & I got in touch with them two weeks later concerned they may have lost them but they said it can take up to four weeks.
I was getting despondent but just checked vehicle details online and it's been updated :clap2:

I have to say I was not impressed with the sticky label plate provided by John and it looked like his printer was low on ink BUT an acquaintance of mine has made me some on different materials. I'll post pictures when I get them and if anyone wants a similar service I'll put you in touch.

A blank plate isn't what I want but a reproduction of the up plate plate complete with the Consultant details etc.

I just retyped it and covered it with some sticky back plastic and stuck it in the camper. It's not the plate that's important but the V5C document with the weights on.

Having seen my mate he has said that the one I have is actually a better material being polyester backed. So I trimmed off all the surplus and it's not bad
