Our tyres on our moho (Elddis Encore 254) are now just 8 years old.....215/70 R15...Vanco Continental Campervan.
There is no visual degradation of them, no cracks, no bulging and very good tread depth. Have swapped front to back at 15k.
Now at 20k and 8 years old. (tyres not me!!!)
Are they past their best as, after various discussions................
4 new ones on order @ £118.00ea.

There are a number of threads running at the moment on this subject but there is a general rough consensus that replacement after 7 years immaterial of tread depth.

Are they "8 years old" or were they fit 8 years ago?
Chances are they were not "NEW BORN" when fitted.
Check manufacture date.

How do they look inside? What does your local tyre fitter say and is it worth the risk ?

I've got Kumho Portran KC53 van tyres on now (they were on when I got it). I've worn out the fronts and they're 7 years old. I was considering Nexen Roadian CTX as they're cheap and have an A rating for fuel economy & rain (average 72Db noise), but decided to try Maxxis Campro MAC2 camper tyres (D fuel, A rain, B 71dB) as I'm getting them in France for £112 each fitted.

It'll be interesting to see what difference camper tyres make.

Just got the Maxxis Campro (motorhome tyres) put on. They feel very nice. Maybe a bit more stable than the Kumho Portran KC53 (though they were pretty worn). These are the only two tyres I've driven on a Hymer (besides the cheap mismatched ones that came on my Hymer at home), so not much to compare them to. It'll be interesting to see how they wear and what kind of fuel economy I get.

This is half the problem.

I've been enquiring about winter tyres from a few suppliers on ebay asking date of manufacture... some are stating 2019 etc but still say brand new as never fitted.

Others claim not to know . Its ridiculous.

I didn't find ebay the cheapest place to source tyres, whether for my van or motorbike. I bought my van tyres from Camskill and my bike tyre last week from mytyres.

I was only looking at the minute to get an idea of prices etc ... but ebay has this new thing where they do deals with tyre fitting outlets so I had messaged a few of the sellers on the south coast asking the dates etc.

When I'm back in the UK I'll actually phone a couple of places for prices.

As always it depends on the brands but a few good prices for Toyo, nankang and vrederstein winter van tyres. But of course not that great if the dates turn out to be 3/4 years old .

Camskill didn't have stock when I bought ours so it was a toss up between MyTyres and Blackcircles.
But MT hiked their twice in 2 days so. ..

Nankang fitted on our van a couple of weeks back and they were dated 0424.

This is the ones I was looking at . But I've asked for the dates twice , first answer I got was " recently stocked" so i asked again for the actual dates . And he said " unfortunately tyres are not stored here"

So it's not very helpful.

Price is good though .

How much were yours?
