Hi how do you stop the sensor? leaking air, n/s/f has been losing a bit of air from 5.5 bar to 4.7 bar according the the display , was also thinking of removing all of them ,what do the forum think yes or no .

Just been on the tyre pal web site and they offer discounts the the 2 big clubs in the UK but say that if any other organisation wish to apply for a discount they can contact their sales at sales@tyrepal.co.uk.

Would Jim consider doing this, especially as members are providing excellent feedback on this product?
Spoke to the owners of TyrePal a couple of weeks ago as we previously had a Fun discount code for several years but now they are selling exclusively through Prima so sadly no Fun discount is possible. It is an excellent product that we & many other Funsters have had fitted to good effect for many years (y)

Thanks for the response. I have been on the Prima site and trust pilot show that 1 in 8 people rate Prima at 1 star for customer service. Saying items are in stock then making customer wait months with little of no comms. Taking a customer money them making them waitr and not communicating is too much potential hassle for me.

Our experience of Prima buying some Colapz silicone mats was a long wait but TyrePal assured us that they make sure their products are always in stock at Prima so there shouldn't be such problems.
Good to see Flairy got their order quickly (y)

Can I do a small thread hijack and ask if the solar monitor unit charges well enough on the dash and if the unit can be switch off when not being use?

Thanks
Tyrepal recommend turning it off when not in use to preserve battery life but as others have said, the solar keeps them very well topped up without ever having to charge them.

Are the fleabay ones as good as tyrepal?
I don't know much about them until now, but looks an essential but of kit
I bought tps kit from eBay which claimed to be up to 5.5bar, But would not go above 4.7 bar don’t waste your money get a decent set.

I won't touch any TPMS system for standard inflated tyres. The system was designed by BMW specifically for run flat tyres, there are far too many fluctuations within a standard tyre due to the way they're sealed to the rim.

Did it bother us previously? Nope.

We had ours for 5 years, until we sold the van, only changed the batteries once, changed the 'o' rings at the same time, never had a leak.
Some insurers take them into account, so it may be worth mentioning when renewing your insurance.

Mine did the same after a lot of use, replaced the o ring seals and they are fine now.

I have had Tyrepal fitted for almost two years now with no problems whatsoever.
I haven't needed to top up our tyres for over 6 months and the pressure remains constant.
I change the batteries once a year and also changed the "O" rings about 6 months ago, but to be honest I don't think they needed to be changed. It is a great system that I wouldn't be without.

As others have suggested, try changing the small washer/o ring that seals against the top of valve.
Also, how do you know that it is the sensor? You may have a slow puncture.

Remove the offending tyrepal for a while, check tyre pressure, if it hasn’t reduced then it’s the seal. More likely it will be the seal.

We had same issue with front off side thought it was tyre changed rubber o ring ok now, look on tyrepal web site for replacement, cost £4.00 for 4

I have fitted them for some years on both the car and Motorhome, and I have replaced the internal seals a couple of times, the external seals with the lock nut just stop crud getting into the sensor.
My wife's car uses the difference between wheel rotations to flag a low pressure alarm, this perhaps would not be effective after two many roundabouts?

It’s better than nothing, I was given early warning in a Kia Sportage and was able to pull over in plenty of time so as not to damage the tyre. Roundabouts were never a problem.
But I’d go for a TyrePal solution any day - much earlier warning and also based on temperature.

Oh dear. I joined this forum to find out about these as I'm debating fitting them to my new van. Now I don't know if they're just 'another thing which can go wrong!' Are they easy for non-techies to maintain?

picked up a slow puncture for me just before going away that was down to the actual tyre valve leaking, without it i would not have known before it was too late and stranded somewhere on a roadside. For me its a no brainer and would not be without them, i have the truck version as my motorhome has 6 wheels plus 2 on the trailer. I would never know about a flat tyre whilst towing until it was too late so again cannot see how people do without them but its all about risk assessment. Doesnt have to be tyrepal but some form of early warning system for the events that are hard to detect until its too late.

Saved me a few times. I have had tyrepal and some ebay cheapies. The ebay ones were pretty bad but tyrepal have been fine. Bought on a discount offer.
You do gave to watch out for the o rings which sometimes fall out or stick to the valve stem when inflating.

These sound like a useful risk reduction tool. How much mass do they have, do you need to re-balance the wheels after fitting!

I've tried 2 sets of Ebay, the first failed after a year, the second didn't work properly. You have to check what your ordering, as most don't register high enough psi. Fine for a car, but not commercial vehicle. Although they look similar to the Tyrepal units, it's my opinion that Tyrepal are manufactured to a far higher standard.

I found with a previous set that the caps can corrode and get stuck to the valve thread so a wee dab of silicone grease to help keep them free.
I usually put a drop of spray oil on the thread of the valve to protect it

Use mine on the van and have a second set on the twin axle car trailer. 7.4metre van and 4.5 metre trailer, no problem picking up a signal from the trailers sensors.

Do the TyrePal sensors fit on the Ducato factory fitted high pressure valves OK. They have 10mm of thread above the nut on the high pressure valve stem.

Is this enough for the sensor plus lock nut?

Thanks!
