Tunnel or ferry?

We’ve always used the Tunnel with Tesco 3x vouchers, but they will soon be 2x so not such good value.
Ferry is quite a bit cheaper so we’ll rethink it next year!

Dover Calais - We much prefer the tunnel these days. We're sometimes tempted to use the ferry on the way back and usually regret it. They re just hassle these days, Frequently full of kids hardly ever leave on time ,meanwhile your day just seeps away.

I booked the ferry to come back last weekend and ended up changing, pushed the ferry crossing a couple of months down the road and booked a last minute tunnel for £185, could have had it for cheaper but prefer a decent time. The whole process took 90 minutes A16 to M20, and no hassle.

If we're going Spain or Western France and the weather is decent will sometimes use BF one way.

Have looked at Newhaven Dieppe because its a similar trip from/to home but find the sailing times a bit too restrictive for us ( if we lived closer it would be different).

me ,I use dunkirk >dover. Personal choice i never use calais too many migrants about.

Not seen a migrant in Calais for years. They don't do ferries/lorries etc anymore. You need to be on a deserted out of the way beach to find them now.

Ferry works too. Done 8 trips in the last 18 months and didn't sink once!
Too many delays, too slow, not as good for dogs, and migrant problems

Never had any delays, not bothered about speed. Retirement means I didn't need to rush anywhere. Haven't got a dog. Migrants don't hang around ferries any more.

To be fair, this is a pointless discussion. Different people prefer different things. The OP needs to make their own decision.

Farther does Portsmouth Caen, always appears to have delay, and has his car was attacked by a migrant trying to get into it at the queue for the port in Caen. I’ll stick with the tunnel thanks.

That's OK Andy. Enjoy!

When you use the ferry with a dog the first waves sets the car alarms off and stresses up the dogs, that why we always used the tunnel.
Not in my recent experience, never heard one go off ... Woof, woof.
Don't have a dog but fail to understand how you can hear alarms on a ferry
Me too ... You'd have to be in the vehicle deck.
Not if they are on a P&O ferry they are in the dog lounge. Did you not see the photos I published?
Only if you choose to pay for it otherwise they are in the vehicle.
