Truma Inet & GSM SIM

  • If customers have the gas pressure regulator for two cylinders Truma DuoControl (CS) and the remote display DuoC on board, the Truma app will indicate whether or not EisEx is switched on. This protects the regulator from icing up at low temperatures. The Truma app also indicates whether the regulator system has already switched from the main cylinder to the reserve cylinder.
Thanks. Interestingly I do have the Truma DuoControl and the remote display with EisEx however I do not see any of this in the Truma app.

Anybody using Truma iNet with iPhone running iOS 13? I’ve been told there are compatibility problems with iPhone 6s and all later models including iPhone 11. I’m contemplating upgrading to the iPhone SE (2020), but don’t want to lose iNet function.

Well I’m on an 5SE running iOS 13 , but only on Bluetooth as I have not installed a SIM card. Thought the problem was specific to iPhone 11, but I might be wrong.

According to the notes accompanying the latest firmware upgrade (2.5.0) it appears that the only outstanding issue is with iPhone 11 models.

I'm running iPhone iOS 13.3 on an iPhone XS Max with no issues with iNet over both bluetooth and via SIM.

Although Truma haven't yet issued any guidance, I strongly suspect that the new iPhone SE will have the same problems with iNET as the iPhone 11 as it apparently shares much of the internal components, but whether this includes the new bluetooth chips is not clear yet.

Yesterday's Truma firmware and app update claims to have finally solved the bluetooth problems with the iPhone 11 and new iPhone SE. Can anyone confirm this? I've installed the software, but only have an iPhone 6s to test it with.

I have reviewed the install manual and I can see how you get ancillary, non Truma/Alde kit data, like tanks. Here is the line from the connection list.

Bus adapter – X Interface modules to third-party providers e.g. Schaudt AD94, SCI101, SCI109.

Via TIN2 from Schaudt kit it seems. I don't have that in my Morelo, however those reading this thread may want to explore connection to their Schaudt box if they have them.
In that regard are there any other third party connections that work on TIN2 that anyone knows of as maybe Schaudt is not the exhaustive option?

Hi,

Did you ever find anything else that integrates to the TIN2/Truma iNet? In my Adria we have the Nordelettronica NE237 with tank info etc, which would be great to have reported back via the app/texts.

Thanks
Dean

Hi,
No I did not pursue it. No reason just had other stuff. The factory fitted my iNet box and I have a CBE variant control panel custom made for Morelo. There is scant detail on its operation let alone connectivity. I also have a Victron Venus GX which gives me remote access and does include a tank option, but to be frank I begin to doubt the validity of peripheral kit data on a remote platform. 230vac on or off, battery state and a few others are useful but tank volume and the like I don't need. Well for me anyway. Nevertheless its always good to know.

I use SIM as in the link below:

It’s a type of PAYG. You can do all the top ups etc on line, view balance and so on. Low text rates and usually specifically for things like Truma Inet, alarms and so on. It’s also roaming so it will latch on to whatever provider it can to get a signal rather than just one, useful in remote areas where signals are poor or only available to certain providers. Used it a fair bit and never had any issues.

Hope link works!

I use this too, works well.

Thanks for that. My business was in home automation, so am used to getting all sorted of systems to talk to each other and present in 1 app. It seems unless the manufacturer does it for you, that is going to be impossible in a motorhome. I think the industry is about 10 years out of date, but hey ho. Not important enough to waste anymore time on it. That’s why I retired!

Thanks
Dean.

Morning all,

Can iNet users tell me what Sim cards they are using? I tried Three PAYG this morning, but not working. I see from above there is GiffGaff and Lebara used.

If anyone has Three working, would be good to know, or conversely, not working so I know to stop wasting time.

Have tried Truma support phone, but no answer. Have emailed.

If Three isn't an option, I was thinking of an ASDA sim. It is no monthly cost and 4p per sim.

Thanks in advance.

Three isn’t working today in Scotland, so I would just wait till they resolve their technical issues.

A lot of devices that use sims (not phones) won't work with Three sims as they use the latest protocol for text a lot of these devices need a sim that uses the old "TEXT" protocol.

Truma just came back to me. Three is the only one NOT to use.....

I had the same issue and ended up with O2. Direct not from a sim trader like GiffGaff, not a criticism just a fact of my experience where they GG gave me 3 different service provider sims and none would work.

For reference - Fully working in Truma iNet box:

ASDA Sim, which is free from their website, 4p per text, £1 min top up, to keep active just 1 text per 6 months, so a min of 8p per year!

Best deal I could find.

Roaming too?

Not quite up to date with technology etc but if I want to use the Asda SIM card in the Truma net, do I need data only or one with minutes?

You just get sim only with no plan. Then it’s just 4p per text it sends. The only time it will send you a text is when you ask it something. So either the current status or to put the heating or water heater on.

No data or calls used.

As stated it only uses texts. When you create a remote enquiry on status in the app it sends a text to the iNet. It then sends you a detailed status text back.
If you are in proximity of the iNet the app will communicate directly via BT for updates and such.

Where is the slot for the SIM and is it the large?

Well I read the instructions for installing the SIM card and read insert the mini sim in the slot provided. Already knew there were three sizes, so inserted my micro card confidently into slot provided.
Bollocks it’s the wrong size , should have a standard Sim fitted. Had to dismantle the box to retrieve it again ?
Me also!😀
