Truma Gas Filter

Yours or mine?..
If i did that on ours the pipe would exit lower, also meant messing about with the copper. Was like that when we got it, I've just added stainless piggy and gasit bottle

If talking about yours is that an impact shutoff valve at the bottom? Can't mount that horizontal if it is.

Whats the main difference between the one in the photo and a £45 one, minus the gold obviously?
It is a dual regulator with auto changeover, can be connected to a Duo Remote C which gives remote indication when the bottles change over. Also has the crash sensor & heater for cold weather.

I had two Truma crash sensor regulators fail. Truma replaced them both under warranty but recommended a filter being fitted due to contaminants in bottled gas causing the crash sensor ball to stick. They also advised that a lot of Moho manufacturers incorrectly site the regulator too low, causing the contaminants to enter the regulator from the gas bottle. (The hose from the bottle should rise up to the Truma regulator)

I did ask that if they know its a problem with bottled gas contaminants, why they didn’t provide all regulators with a filter... the response was... “we leave it to the customer to decide if that want a filter”.....

By way of update, just returned from Autogass 2000 where raised our regulator so that it's higher than the 80% level of the Alugas bottle and fitted the Truma filter. All done in 30 minutes including a though test for leaks. Chris and his team of Jon and Wendy are very thorough, knowledgeable and friendly and we were entertained by Jon whilst he worked.
Feel much happier going away in January now that the regulator has been raised and there's a filter in line. I did a fuller review of Autogass 2000 in the 'Review' section but heartily endorse their services.

Result!

What happened to the pigtail? Did they put an elbow on it as was hitting roof to start with

Never mind,

Just pictured setup. Filter will be at 90 so pigtail won't be hitting roof now.

Good service from Autogas

I wish I'd taken a photo of the finished job. It was dark, windy and rainy and we just wanted to get home. But I'll post a photo soon, yes, they used a 90° elbow and the pigtail doesn't hit the roof.

Truma Filter is back in stock at Autogas if anyone was thinking of fitting one.

Just under £44 delivered, cheapest I've found

I've been back to the van to clean it and otherwise prepare for our trip in January. So I've attached a photo of the filter now fitted and the regulator raised. I haven't yet cleaned out the gas cupboard! I've also posted a photo of the regulator before fitting the filter.

Those ones are useless fitted them to my last had them on for a year kept getting gas leaks where they connect.
Took them off opened them up the filters looked like no gas had passed through them. Not surprising when you look at the design.

Current van regulator was playing up although gas was flowing ok it wasn't indicating when the bottles changed over, changed under warranty.
Fitted Truma filters you can see by the design they should work as the gas has no option other than to pass through the filter element.

Autogas 2000 do the Truma filters for £40

If I remember I'll check to see if there is any crud in them tomorrow.

Are there alternatives to the truma filters?

Lenny HB any comments? How to connect, flexible and jubilee clip

I would give that one a miss connectors and body are plastic and connections are 12 mm so that means adaptors it would end up a right bodge. Also quite large most gas lockers it's quite tight getting a couple of Truma ones in don't think you would stand much chance with that one.

I would give it a wide berth.

Just gave it a serious look, without dramatic reconstructuon will be lucky to get one truma filter in and maybe a bottle mounted gasit one. Since my intention is to use my 11kg gaslow and a 6kg calor propane backup i will start with 1 filter.

I wouldn't bother with the Gas-it fitted them on my last van, didn't appear to do anything & kept getting gas leaks at the connections, connections poorly engineered. Thew them away in the end.

This is my install the bottles are 2 x 14kg Alugas.

The regulator seems to be mounted at 90 degrees to yours and mounted towards front of cupboard
The filler has been remounted front and centre.

Don't recognise your regulator but looks like you have plenty of room for the Truma filters.

Book says truma duocontrol cs, so does mirror looking up ie mounted different to yours or the diagram in the book.
The top of the back wall is at 45 degrees to the vertical

Last year, whilst travelling through France and Germany, our boiler wouldn't light. We called in to the Truma agent in Ladenburg, They checked the gas system, then removed the old regulator and fitted the above Truma Duo with new hoses. The difference in pressure was really obvious as the hob is now like a jet engine whereas before it was quite a low flame. I think we paid 250 euros plus 150 euros fitting, but we had no choice.
We also have fuel filters on both Alugas bottles, we asked them about these and they said they wouldn't cause any problems as long as we changed the filter every 12 months.

Well i thought this was going to be "simple" just wait for autogas to get them back in stock
But truma has brought out a new one.

Yes that one was available in Germany last year, looks bigger and plastic as opposed to aluminium.

Had to scroll up to check photo not copied

Couldn't find dimensions to check it would fit.(pipework getting close to door)

See Truma have brought a new version out that takes cheaper refills

Think i'll stick to my metal one, high pressure gas and and plastic parts.. no thanks

This is my set up, filters are replaceable.
Not much room for anything else !
