Hi, just looking for help from some of the technical guru's on here......... In our M/ home we have a Truma 6E, the issue I have is that when on E.H.U. the heating and hot water won't work...... they both work perfectly on gas, and the electric was working last week while on a site

I have taken the cover off and tried to get at the fuse hidden in unit, but can't.
I have reset the unit on the Truma panel as well as trying to reset the red button in the unit, but, that didn't move.
There are no error codes showing on the panel
I have taken the fuses ( main van panel ) out and checked.

I would appreciate any help

Thank you

I assume you're giving it a loooong time? My 6E gets to temperature fairly quickly on gas. But it can take half an hour before I can even start to feel a difference in water temperature on electric. It's fine if I'm on site for a few days, I just leave it on.

There is a fuse for the 230V system but it is well hidden in an area that is not considered to be user accessible. It involves removing the panel lower down than the top one with the red button and 12V fuse. Can be very difficult to get to and you need to be absolutely sure you have disconnected the EHU first. However when I had the problem several years back I did get a fault code.

Thanks for taking the time, however, have just given it 2.5hrs and water still ice, to access the fuse that you describe Pausim, I would have to take the whole kitchen/cooker/sink out to gain access...... think I may have to use a fan heater when its cold, and then use gas for hot water....... Thanks

Then it’s likely the two heating elements have packed up, these can be replaced but involve a removal and strip to do,

It was a nightmare on my Hymer, I had to dangle the new fuse on a thread of cotton to line it up with the holder and then managed to lever it into place. Didn’t have any problems with my last van and fingers crossed for the new one.

If the elements have packed up is there not an error code ??? everywhere I look ( mainly YouTube) they go on about error codes, and I haven't had any ?????

If the elements are toast then you will get no heat or hw on electric. I just replaced mine, one was dead but made sense to do both. Fairly easy but watch YT Robs Wise Ways where he changes elements on a caravan Truma.

There were no codes on our 6E when the elements failed. I replaced them with the cheapo ebay versions without the extra bits that the genuine kit adds in for no real reason. Still going strong after about five thousand hours
of electrical use.

Sorry, Lorger..... could you please explain what the 'settings' are that you mean.... do you mean a pic of the Truma controller.... I believe that the reset button is the red one on the unit, and yes have tried that but no movement, so am assuming that it had not tripped !!!

I’m not sure what controller you have for setting the heating and hot water to ehu and a few folk on here in the past have set it up wrong, if you’ve used it on ehu before then you’ll be fine but if this is your first time then maybe it’s something simple. Always check the simple things we can influence before spending time and money, be amazed how often it operator error.

Sorry just reread your post and it worked last week, probably not operator error then.

You say the reset button has not tripped. Can you confirm what you have tried with this button? As it needs to be pressed for a while to force a reset. I think it's 10 seconds but I could be wrong.

Ah..... thanks for that..... I found the reset button.... its buried about 1" behind a plastic cover, so, got a cocktail stick and pushed it in.... nothing moved..... maybe I need to as you suggest, hold it in for a few seconds to give it a chance...... will try in the morning... Thanks
