Advice please. We are of to france spain and portugal end of march and hopefully staying the max 🤞.
we are looking for personal travel insurance, any advice would be mucho appreciated. Thanks.

Spain for some reason has been included with some insurers as standard for European cover, whilst others have excluded it, this has nothing to do with 'B' as it was happening long before then as I had to ensure we were covered once we started travelling here.

found that Eurotunnel provided cover for a total of £300 for 90 days with very little restrictions other than GP having no objection to travel. Note, you can only arrange this at the time of booking the tunnel journey, it cannot be added afterwards.
Is that for a single trip though or annual? I suspect the former.

We tried Staysure for a quote, along with other so called market leaders in specialist cover but at over £800 for 90 days too expensive.
the problem being a chronic spinal condition that seemed to top trump any other, in terms of risk.

If you need to claim I wonder how you prove that your GP had no objection to you traveling?

its usually in the small print that they can contact your GP or expect a fitness to travel letter

My nephew shocked me the other evening. He was born with no adrenal glands and has ongoing medical issues as a result. He is off to the us in a couple of weeks and got annual multi trip insurance for himself, wife and one child for £350 through the post office. I didn’t even know they did travel insurance.
I will certainly be giving them a try when ours is due next

Yes, I would get a letter from my GP / hospital specialist before I booked (always last minute booking for us). Last time i did this the hospital specialist said the holiday (cruise) was on medical advice to help relieve stress. :)

In the past (some years ago) I used The Post Office and would use them again. My specs got broken in France and they paid for a new pair!!! When I used The Post Office last time they were one of very few who would cover pre-existing adrenal issues, most excluded any illness resulting from such issues so, in effect, could have wriggled out of almost anything.

We’ve got Annual travel
Insurance with AllClear which also covers Worldwide (inc USA and Canada). They cover my pre-existing medical conditions but are considerably more expensive (even considering the Worldwide bit) than the companies quoted on this thread. Anyone else using AllClear?
I’ve got 55days abroad option but now need 60 days and I’m not sure they’ll extend it 😬

Hi there,
Just bought insurance for myself and my husband (72yo) from Avanti Europe/Balkans/Turkey/Morocco. 532GBP (with a 20% discount applied through code on site) April til December. Other companies either declined re: age or stay duration.

As with all insurance you need to read the small print. I have been looking at winter sports cover, one said you had to be over 16 and under 65 in full time education or full time employment. If I had just read the summary I would not of known I wasn’t covered as I gave up work 2 years ago.

Do you have a link for that as it seems very strange and one to avoid.
