Swift Escape 674
Hi new to motorhomes with a Swift escape 674 after caravans for many years. looking for advice on getting a tow bar and A frame tow system to tow a Toyota Aygo. We are based in Scotland and don't see any Scottish companies and reading various companies blurb they all claim to be the best, so some practical experience would be appreciated from members. Many thanks

Hi, I am from Scotland and about to do the same as you. After a lot of research and recommendations on here I will probably use towbars 2 towcars in Keelby near Grimsby to fit tow bar to my Mh and electronic a frame to my fiat 500.
There is a company in Bellshill called citytowbarsandelectrics who are agents for towaglide but when I got a quote from them they were about £700 more expensive. Think I can get to grimsby stay over night get job done and back for less than that. Although Bellshill is only an hour away for me so much more convenient.
Just my thoughts.

James
hi just check its like for like ,,with the towaframe that i believe is installed at bellshill ,i checked a few out before going with towaframe and have not been disappointed ,,just do your homework on other installers systems before committing ,,one company want £250 extra to convert my motorhome electric's that no other one said needs doing ,,

I'm in Spain just now.. just today I've seen 3 French registered vehicles on A frames .

Here's 2 of them

And I've seen countless others over the years . French and German registered using them in France, Germany. Spain and in Greece where they had to have driven through multiple countries to get there.

So the amount of people who jump on these posts just to tell the op that they can't do something really need to refrain because it's very clear that you can....

We’ve been a user of tow bars to tow cars with electronic braking now for nearly five years had it fitted to a 2019 Aygo Auto (robotizised) when practically new and have used the same car and system over three different Motorhomes with no issues Terry who owns the company is very helpful for any questions or queries I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services not the cheapest system but certainly works for us

You can do lots of things, that dosen't necessarily mean that it is legal.
To point out the legal situation so at least the person asking can make an informed decision is responsible, to suggest that becouse lots of people apparently break the law and get away with it, then to suggest others posters trying to point out the legal situation are spoilsports and shouldn't post valuable information, is not.

Problem these days really is there are far too many laws

And to be fair the op never at anytime asked about any legalities for a frames or mentioned towing abroad but got a load of comments pretty much straight away telling him they were illegal in Europe. Despite many being used in Europe.

I'm not religious but it was so much better when there were only 10 commandments.

Sod the laws 🙄 its not like they've ever stopped real crime is it .

Most people don't commit murder etc because of their morals and not because its illegal.
