Toilet paper, bin or flush ?

We just use flannels wash them once a day when doing the dishes hang out to dry then repeat the next day saving a "load" of space.
I hope you mean something different here!

We bag all our loo paper, started doing it years ago when property sitting in France and had nowhere on the property to black dump!
Now it’s a habit and I find myself looking for the bin when using a different loo!
Manic reckons it does save a bit of space and is easier to empty cassette.

Thanks for this thread Martin.

I am now rapidly researching where I am unallowed to put "shitty" toilet paper down the toilet... So I can avoid going there. The thought of sticking it in a bin, peeing in a bottle, or at the side of the road just aint luxury motorhoming....

I am not sure what paper other people are using to wipe their backsides. Izal (for a good smear round) or torn up copies of the Sun (or Guardian for those left leaning)? We use the same proper toilet paper that we use at home and when I come to empty the cassette it has nearly all dissolved.

As for peeing by the side of the road, that is what lorry drivers have to do and it is why all our laybys stink of pee, which makes us reluctant to stop in them even for just a cuppa.
We've used normal cheap toilet paper for over 30 years no problem and that is mostly dissolved when the cassette is emptied.

As for lorry drivers peeing at the side of the road. Unfortunately just like motorhome provisions for parking, lorry drivers are treated like s**t when it comes to parking/services. 30 years driving and when you have to go you go.

I've caused myself more injury over the years trying to hold out for toilets. It's not nice at all.

As someone said the water used to flush the paper down is the difference, but not poo paper! I think everyone that assumes it’s poo paper must be male & not wipe after a wee! Binning the paper saves quite a bit of space in the cassette, but not poo paper - yuch!

Must be just parts of Spain then?

I was in Lloret de Mar a few weeks back and it was OK to flush paper
yes in some it can be flushed but it is just being held in tanks usually below the car parking. as I posted in #30 the commercial centre up the road you can flush it but it is just held underground & removed via trucks.most small bars in towns do not have this facility & why they do not want paper & sanitary items down the toilet as it blocks them up.
Wnen I stop at the 'Cafestore' services on the way to Alicante you can flush there . It all just goes in to a holding tank that has to be pumped out.

In the MH we use one of these.https://www.simploo.co.uk/
Ther AG hotels are all the same. just holding tanks.

Now we’re retired and on a tight budget we’re hanging ours out to dry 😂😂 strange how nobody has taken the pitch either side of us 😂😂

I watched a YT video of a young couple who were giving a van tour of their self conversion yesterday. They had installed a Porta Potti but slso a Pee Pipe next to it. They both peed into the pipe via a she wee type of contraption the pipe went directly out through the van floor to outside. He said no different than peeing outside.I have to disagree as usually people that pee outside go into the bushes or woods not in the middle of a parking place where others may sit or walk.

Bag our paper… have done it on holidays abroad so no big deal
Also use a spray bottle with dilute bio liquid to save flushing every time

That’s a bit naughty.

Now if they put that pipe into the waste water tank it would be a good idea

I keep reading that toilet paper takes up room in a cassette so should be binned or bagged, but then I wonder "how can it take up more room than its actual volume" I can understand that it might swell up when wet and increase it's volume but it can only swell by taking the water from the cassette so the net affect would still just be the original volume of paper, is there something wrong with my thought process?

Oh and we have a black tank so I know where ours is going ;)
You made me laugh, reminded me of my other half who immediately takes a sip out of their glass when it has ice in it. Their theory is the liquid shall overflow as the ice melts. Now remember, this is someone who holds more degrees than a thermometer, well not quite but does have the title Professor, it’s worrying 😂😂😂

A floating body displaces it's own mass of liquid, if it sinks it displaces it own volume  (not toilet related;)) I can understand your other half's anxiety but science suggest it will actually be OK.

When I lived in the Middle East they always had bins at the side of the loo, but the paper was for drying oneself. Using paper to clean themselves is seen as a dirty habit. I was involved in a conversation with a few workmates discussing the subject. It annoyed the Expats that the toilets were always wet with the locals using the sprays, “why can’t you use paper like everyone else?”. The reply was, “because it’s disgusting using paper it is not clean”. When the expat explained it is how most of the civilised world do it ( he was not the most politically correct person) the subject was put to bed when the Arabic gentleman asked him, let me rub a lump of Sh@t into your head and see how clean you get it was a piece of paper…point taken 🤭😂

I use Asda shapes toilet paper, by the time the cassette is emptied there is no sign of any paper, it dissolves really good…

Our toilet in the van is only for the ladies, mine doesn’t go anywhere near a sanitary system except when I use public conveniences….😎

Conservation of mass, liquid forms the same mass in both liquid and frozen state only the particles closeness changes. But he doesn’t agree 😂😂

Yea but yea but…. What do they wipe it off with ? Their hand or just the spray of water…? I’d be coming out of the loo like I’ve just had a shower.. soaking wet…😆🤣

off topic slightly.

My Family and their in-laws stayed in a big villa in Portugal a couple of years back.

The villa owners insisted they dont flush anything other than human waste down the toilets, due to the septic tank.

The owners provided bins and came to empty them all every day, very intrusive if you ask me.

Here in Spain, I couldn't tell the guests to do that. So we just get the tank emptied every 4-5 years.
YEARS?????

Now I hope this isn't going to come as racist, but I always thought they did the toilet bit with one hand and eat with the other.
