Today’s drama !

Hope it’s a better experience than the caravan, enjoy:xThumb:

Perhaps that ought to be caravans! Many thanks, it couldn't be any worse, even the handover was dreadful and the PDI wasn't done properly. Sadly this dealer is based in God's Own Country. One must be positive! New dealer is from the Land of Prince Bishops. :xgrin:

Funniest thing I have seen or heard recently was a guy we met standing next to his brand new Motorhome he went to great lengths to explain how terrible the last 4 brand new British built caravans he had bought and owned were .
This conversation took place standing next to his Collected that day Swift Bessacarr Motorhome ?:xrofl:
Nearly fell over laughing :xThumb:

Love it! Having had miserable experience with a Swift, and two Baileys both of which needed major repairs in the first year (although the dealers were both good and looked after us well), we had high hopes Elddis would be better. Proves just how wrong one can be! The only new caravan we had which was really good was a Trigano which we kept for 5 years. We also have a Trigano air awning which is now 5 years old (memo to self, must put it on Ebay) and still as good as new. Benimar is owned by Trigano, so fingers crossed.

We nearly walked away from the whole game, but neither Mrs TB or myself really wanted to give up the life.

Twas a caravan, only 6 months old, but made in the same factory in the same way. Eventually got our money back after a log fight with a cowboy dealer. Now waiting for the delivery of a new Benimar. (After 4 crappy new British caravans of different makes, not going down the British route again!) Sadly just been told that next weeks delivery has been put back to the new year.

Think the biggest problem people have is with the Importer rather than the Motorhome. As they are the only people who import it they can and do what they like. Meet a guy in Spain who took his to the factory as he had a fault and was only round the corner. They locked the gates on him and refused him entry to the factory. He was told to take it to a local Dealer as they don't do repairs.

Perhaps you should write to them and point out that time is of the essence and you want a delivery date otherwise you could be waiting months.

Nothing like that at all on our 3 year old elddis, it’s been very good:xThumb:
You are very very lucky , my new Elddis caravan had water ingress in front and in wheel arches , shower wall split twice , when I picked it up new every water connection weeped after 15 faults some serious I sold it for cash to an Elddis Dealer , we loved the design and the comfort , but the build quality was rubbish an bit like our 18 month old Chausson motor home, if anybody has never had a problem with a caravan or motorhome I would be very surprised, but I suppose there may be a few out there, I was talking to a Carthargo owner I thought they were one of the best , even he said he had had problems

Both habitation door springs broken on my Hymer, and the fly screen has to be removed to adjust the locking bars. Double glazing has failed in most of the cab windows (just after the warranty ran out). Shower door rail replaced now failing again. BUT it doesn't leak unlike ALL the British built vans I've had.
Same on our Hymer, door springs failed. All double glazed had failed. We are enter and exit front door for last four months. We are in USA untill February. Will fix on return but may leave the windows. They will keep failing.

I believe one of the Elddis execs is now in charge of Hymer quality control:xgrin:....can't wait for Carthago to Swallow up Swift.:xThumb:

see what I did there eh! eh!:xwink:

I can honestly say in a year of owning our Carthago (which we full time in) we have had nothing break or go wrong that we haven't done ourselves - Wife broke the catch on the wardrobe door and the dog clawed out the step entry light!

I might get rid of them both........

I intend to though I'm hoping it travels in one of the lower car decks. Funny thing is, it will be travelling all the way back using the same ferry and past the actual factory in February, so may need more than one good wash.

At least it won't have been sat in some storage yard for months.
thats handy you can get all the snagging sorted :xlaugh:

You actually mean that you use your Motorhome regularly as most manufacturers have warranty exclusions and will not cover any leisure vehicles being used full time :xdoh::xThumb:
In fact some manufacturers even go as far as limiting the number of consecutive nights the vehicle is used for and some don’t cover if taken abroad.

buy an american rv, a good make like newmar.
solid nothing breaks, falls off, leaks. engine that will run for 1 million miles, unlike faits which are lucky to reach 1000 miles.
go on,,, you know it makes sense.
ps.....
selling my newmar as downsizing.:xgrin::xgrin:

I hope it's not a promoted Male as in about 2013 at the Nec. show, I said to the Elddis Production Manager "you have the caravan design, lovely , now improve the build quality" his reply which is still ringing in my ears was " Well you know it's a Cottage Industry " what an idiot and should have been sacked (that's if he hasn't ) with a mentality like that.

The magazines love to tell their victims how Motorhomes are either bespoke or hand built :xrofl::xrofl::xrofl:

They daren't do anything else due to advertising income, what these magazines should do is lobby government to uprate ordinary Driving Licences to drive vehicles up to 4500kgs instead of the current 3500kgs after all safety technology has moved on , that's why trucks moved from 32 tons to 44 tons ( or be it on 6 axles ) using same licence

I’ve had 6 Motorhomes in 13 years ,
1 Japanese Mazda Bongo great little Wellhouse conversion.
2nd Auto Sleeper Gatcome coach built OKish.
3rd Trigano Tribute 650. Great van at a reasonable price
4th Auto Roller 100. Excellent budget coachbuilt.
5th Auto Sleeper Broadway the biggest bag of shite ever produced.
6th Globecar Campscout absolutely brilliant.

John.

I have had one secondhand N&B Arto, as my first MH, in 9 years.

Am I doing something wrong?

Geoff

Yes I have had 2 chausson motorhomes in past 3 years both new one a 610 and currently a 630 we loved both for innovation design and layout and light bright interiors but sadly both have been problematic with countless faults and still waiting for various items to be repaired the build quality is unfortunately is second to everyone very frustrating the dealer is very busy and to book an habitation service needs several months notice I think the dealer is swamped by remedial work oh dear!

I think someone should start a mag to be up front with the real faults of these so called hand built sheds.
