Essential Kit??????????????

Ooooh, I’m scared!! :Eeek: Have just read every post on this thread and am feeling very anxious as I haven’t a clue what 90% of the items you lovely people have purchased are let alone what they do or whether they’re necessary.
We take delivery of our very first motorhome (Autocruise Stardream 2011) in a couple of weeks and I’m trying to get organised so that we and the dogs can tootle off pretty soon after the handover.
It is currently having a solar panel fitted and has 2 gas bottles and one leisure battery. It is still under manufacturers warranty for another 15 months so hopefully if anything goes wrong then they will fix it, but I don’t know if there is anything I should buy on top of the above and what comes as standard, for example do I need an inverter (whatever this is) or any other piece of kit deemed essential. Our first few trips will be sites with EHUs but we eventually will be doing some wild camping. Most of my purchases so far have been to do with kitchen equipment and doggie stuff.
Sorry to sound so dozy but am trying to do this without bothering husband as he’s out at work trying to earn enough dosh to pay for the MH lifestyle.

Well I've just bought my PPE kit for hill climbing, got my race overalls a couple of weeks ago and just bought helmet, nomex balaclava, race gloves and race boots from www.racewear.co.uk excellkent prices.

.

I know what you mean, you soon start picking it all up as you go along though. A lot of it sounds like gobbledegook (and a lot of it IS!) but the tendency is for beginners to feel that they should rush out and buy everything only to find that most of it ends up in the back of the shed. Obviously if you want to know what a term means you can look it up or ask someone on here - we're all only too willing to help, and nobody will pick on you for asking a silly question (no such thing as far as I'm concerned)

An inverter is a gizmo that will let you use a mains-powered item from your 12v battery, so see how you get on while on hook-up before thinking of buying one especially as they can be a big drain on your battery. We've never had the need for one.

Last week I bought.............

In truth it was last week-but I bought a Hymer B655 Starline-got it home and it then snowed and has been below freezing ever since-do you think someone is trying to tell me something??

LOADS of stuff in the Boots 75%sale.
Most expensive item was £45 i got it for £11.25. All top quality makes like Sanctuary , Champneys , Joules , No 7, Nivea , Topshop , etc etc.
Altogether I should have spent £424 full price , before Christmas prices, but it only cost me £52 in cash ( and £54 in points I'd collected through the year ) how good is that .
So that's all the kids stocking fillers for Christmas next year.
Plus quite a few Birthday presents for various friends and relatives .
I LOVE A BARGAIN :thumb:

Jubilee Clips

Yesterday I bought some jubilee clips. I have no idea why, what to use them for or when I am going to use them but many people on this forum seem to find them terribly useful so I thought I'd be prepared - even though we haven't actually taken delivery of the motorhome yet! And, yes, I was a girl guide in my youth ...............ging gang gooly and all that.

I've just bought something today:

Although quite large, there are a few bits
and in our home they will quite comfortably sit
With straight bits and curved bits, some hard and some soft
They're partially stuffed with comfy type 'loft'
With little levers we'll get them just right
So when we're relaxing we'll have a nice comfy night!
They nothing naughty but they'll help us de-stress!!!
So what have we bought then? Go on ... have a guess!

Gas ring reducer for my expresso pot. well chuffed.

five metres of 2.5 3 core cable and a box of clips...

Why ?

So I could fit yet another double 240v mains socket ( cheers Degsy !! ) on the left hand side of the van inbetween the seats..
Fitted three sockets on the right hand side but for some reason never got around to adding one on the right hand side.

Came to a head when we had to use an extension lead to run the laptop charger and iPad chargers from the sockets on the other side of the van !!

Job now done and no more trailing wires around the mh :thumb:

A new Toro lawnmower to replace the previous one which was immersed under three foot of water in the shed during the floods in November and again in December :thumb:
