We loved having Nala with us in the summer and are hoping to take her back to France in October.

Even with our currently limited levels of fitness we felt we were pushing her with speed (we were having to cycle more slowly than we find comfortable) and distance when she was running alongside the bikes.

So, we're looking for a dog trailer to allow us to venture a little further and travel a little faster.

We saw a lot of Burley Tail Wagons in France and thought they seemed a good mid-point of quality vs price.
But it's still £340 and we don't know if she'll like it or loathe it so wondered about buying second hand.

Trouble is there are no dog-specific Burleys coming up - but lots of Burley child trailers. So the question is can we safely put a dog in a child bike trailer and what would we have to modify?

We bought a bike buddy for our cockapoo. It sits in front of you behind the handlebars. Designed by a cyclist for his dog. Shes strapped in, very secure. She loves it. About £170.

This post, and another, were resurrected yesterday by a new member who was promoting a product - their post has now gone I think. Hopefully it’s s useful resource though for people looking.
We bought a Burley which Nala hates but does let us travel further afield!

Hi there - another vote for Bikebuddy - I posted this on the wrong thread earlier (doh!) :

Looked into this for our working cocker and ended up getting a bike seat for her (US thing called Buddyrider, available here in the UK). The dog we use it for is about 11kg so at the top end of what they say for it but she loves it and regularly asks to get back on when

we're cycling along and she needs a rest. Detaches when not in use and doesn't use up any space in the motorhome garage as we store it on the bike. Pic attached - good luck!

We have a small Trixi trailer, they come in different sizes. Our pooch is only 6kg. It folds down and isn't too heavy. Its done about 1000 miles, the plastic 'windscreen' is looking a bit tired but otherwise is iin good nick. We tried a handlebar mounted carrier but the weight higher up raises the centre of gravity and loads up the steering. It made my shoulders ache. Much prefer towing the pooch. She has to be restrained using a harness and short leash. Also consider extending the mudguards on your bike otherwise your dog gets showered with mud and gravel. Dog goggles are available!
