It would be good to have it as a war theme Jacob table on the Friday night .
We should have the shelter for the friday night @jo-ca will be brining it with him .
We can put the frying pan on the log burner and cook hot dogs on the thurs and Sunday night if you want just bring ya sausages or anything else ya want cooked in the frying pan . We also have a few cans of soup that Old mo sent us from Bagwall as well so night feasts round the log burner it is ;)

Cooking a leg of lamb today for Sunday lunch . keeping the dripping and juices for dripping sanwiches for the war theme jacobs table thats if Bill will leave it alone ;) not going to be much but we can all have a little taste :) Did they have much lamb in those times Bil said it was mainly rabbit and chicken x

I though dripping "mucky fat" was made with beef or pork Kate?
I love lamb I've never thought of making some with it.
Then again my oven has conked! We've got someone coming to look at it tomorrow.
I'm lost without it. First time in as long as I can remember , that I've not done a roast ( something) when at home on a Sunday. Carbonara isn't the same  enjoy !

I know dripping is supposed to be pork or beef but when i saw all that gunge in the roasting tin i thought Bill would only dip bread in there and eat it so i thought why not share it with others lol dont think they will be to bothered where it comes from loL. Cant wait for the dance at this meet Bev Amanda has her bop dress and a lot of funsters are attending so should be a good night . We missed ya at the soul weekend :( . There are some tickets left if ya fancy joining us Bev ? x

Lamb dripping - I don't think so.

It is usually beef or pork

A type of dripping from Yorkshire, United Kingdom, where it is known as "mucky fat"

Yep Ken i know it should be beef or pork but i was cooking lamb didnt want to waste it i shall ask though before i do it incase people wont try it . Bill will be happy if they don't as he will eat it all lol

Wartime Dripping is Yummy

So OK I hear you saying…..gross!!!!

But I can tell you something, after a few weeks on rations, when you realize just how little fat is in your diet from cheese & butter (rationed) and of course no longer able to consume potato chips or high fat snacks, dripping soon becomes a tasty and desirable addition to your diet..

A little dripping mixed in with those boiled veggies or a blob smeared and melted into your baked potato livens up those blander dinners at the end of the week when rations are running low.

How to collect dripping

  • Bacon dripping is the best
  • Fry bacon in pan until slightly crisp
  • Remove bacon
  • Pour left over fat into heatproof bowl (strain if you wish)
  • Place somewhere cool like in your fridge where it will harden
  • Use like butter for cooking or smearing on hot foods
I know it doesn’t seem possible that you can have dripping in your diet and lose weight but it’s true!

C xx

can you let me know when you will be arriving please
sorry if i you have already let me know but i cant find it on the thread x Kate

Bacon dripping is called DIP in Yorkshire. The best way to eat a bacon sarnie is to dunk your crusty oven bottom in the hot bacon dip and then add HP Sauce to taste. Many also supplement the bacon DIP with tomato DIP.

There used to be a famous caf in Leeds called 'The Tomato Dip'.
