The Simpson's Spanish Raid

So we moved off the camping site as it seemed very expensive for the services offered. So we are now parked up on a huge public car park, not the prettiest of places we have stayed, but it's quick and easy to get to the old town which is absolutely wonderful. If you have not been to Arcos de la Frontera, Cádiz, you really need to visit.

There had just been a school visit to the council chambers and we were able to sneak in shortly after they left. The guy with the key, on finding us inside said not to worry, albeit we were not authorised, he said we seemed like nice people 😀. I like to think we are....

A cake shop we found where everything they sell is homemade by hand so we were told. The missus bought a few for her breakfast. I do not indulge in unnecessary calories myself, I prefer wine or whisky 😀

Then it was time for lunch.
Crujiente de jamón y puerros con lombarda.

Cazón en adobo for the missus.

And wild boar chops for the chauffeur.

A very nice local wine to accompany an excellent lunch.

Today is our final day of the raid, tomorrow we'll board the ferry back to Gran Canaria. Yesterday we arrived at the Camping Playa Las Dunas in Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, around 20km from the port so we are close for our departure at 14:00. It's been a blast as a first adventure in the moho, we have learnt a lot and have gained experience for the next one. I trust I did not bore you all too much with my posts. Cheers!

Thoroughly enjoyed your thread. Thank you for taking the time to write it.

It's been very enjoyable following your thread Barrie.

Do you have anything planned for future trips yet?

Thanks. Yes, our next raid is to Northern Ireland to visit my son. We're looking at the end of March, so meanwhile we'll bumble around the islands. We didn't do Lanzarote yet, so that will probably be next.

I'm on a diet, you didn't half make me hungry. Great thread, thanks.
Sorry for that, being on a diet is awful, so I don't do it, just cut back a little until I can do up my shoelaces then back to normal 😀

Great thread & enjoyed your trip & pics. It would be useful if you could explain some of the food choices in English please as I’m sure lots of people would be interested

Thank you really enjoyed your thread.

Burger off back to your little Island and leave us mainlanders to a peaceful life..🇪🇦
Good first trip...learning as you go, where to stay, what to visit...having a Spanish partner ensures you get the best choice of food and wine...
You must have found places to return too and those to avoid...we all do that..it's all part of the adventure..Hasta luego...🇪🇦🇪🇺😃

We've got this interesting van across from us. I can't find the make. The model is Tundra and it's on a MAN.

A great blog of your trip. I still don't know what you eat apart from green beans and roasties 🤣
