We, jumar and jumartoo, Martin and Judith, are about to take our annual summer trip. Leaving Spain as the holidaymakers arrive, this year we have no fixed plans. France, obviously, but then the route will all be down to the weather and our whim. We would like to revisit southern Sweden and Norway, but ... we also fancy parts of Germany, Poland and other Baltic states.

Follow us on our travels if you're interested (if not bye bye )

Watching this thread. Have a great trip.

Have you got your crocheting hook!!?

Have a good one.
We're off to France next week, chiefly to follow a bit of le Tour in Cholet, the Alps and then the Pyrenees. The last time we saw you in France Martin almost bought our van for a tenner!

We've had our farewell lunch with some of our bestest friends. Maria and Salva and Paco and Encarna. We fed them, amongst other things, carne sin chilli (meat without chilli, cos they can't do spicy except Paco who added Piri Piri sauce to his like I did).

Then putting his sensible head on to take a photo including me.

Heading to Morella tomorrow but we're thinking we need to get further north for some cooler weather.

@Munchie don't think we'll be coming your way this time but who knows. We don't have to be anywhere specific this year.

Fishing gear, guitalele, hooks (crocheting) and wool already packed, plus assorted telephones, tablets, camera, binoculars, etceteraaaaa.

Terry @Terry242 long time no see. Great to hear from you. The offer still stands even though the van is now a few years older. Enjoy le Tour.

Loved your thread title Judith, safe travels you are very welcome to stay with us if you are down our way.

Loved the title aswell ! Very clever!!
Hopefully see you in September!!!!

Happy and safe travels Judith...look forward to reading of your travels:)
Glad to hear you’ve packed your crocheting:)

First day ticked off. After a slight delay to nip back home for the toothbrushes and toothpaste (Sunday and shops closed so more imperative than it could have been) we drove for more hours than was comfortable because of the heat. The air-con was on, drinking the fuel, but who cares :(. We didn't make Morella because we were 1. Getting hungry and 2. Needing shade. So we pulled in at the village of La Salzadella and a camperstop we'd used before cos it's behind a building giving welcome shade.

Tomorrow??? Maybe the Ebro or Prades in the Priorat. The Ebro region is looking hot tho! So Prades seems most likely. Watch this space.

Enjoy your travels, nothing like having freedom to travel. Look forward to seeing were you go.

Thanks Carol. We are appreciating the chance to wander this year. It's the first time for many years that we've not had a destination (or more) already scheduled in.

Would love to meet up with you and Eddie again sometime . Who knows ... one day.

Have a great trip, I will be following with interest.

Looking forward to following your travels.

Safe journey(y)

We left our quiet camperstop this morning to head for the mountain village of Prades, a place we last visited at least 15 years ago, but where we used to go to go climbing. No rock climbing this tine but the mounrain biking is recommended.

We set up on the ACSI campsite at Prades village, not one we'd used before, but a very pleasant site even though it us mostly taken up with static units ranging from caravans to very nice wooden cabins with all types of unit in between. The pool opens on the 21st (official start of summer) and a four day fiesta here. We'll be well away then!

Posting in sections cos some photos are on the phone.

We spoke to a near neighbour. A very presentable (read handsome, or "fit" as the youngsters would say ) Turkish guy in a Brit registered motorhome. He was asking us about security because his van was broken into during the night whilst he and his wife were sleeping in Barcelona!! He said they were gassed!? cos they didnt feel or hear anything and unusually for them they didn't wake until 11.00 am. His wife was so scared she's gone back to London for a while :(.

When we booked into the site we were given a map of bike routes specifically for e-bikes. We chose to ride to the medieval village of Siurana, another place we'd not seen for 15 years or so. The route was interesting to say the least, and was an out and back route. Deciding the "back" would be a tad too challenging, we returned by road. Downhill first, unfortunately because we then had to regain all the height lost :(.

The descending road!

Another bike ride. A different scenario to yesterday, i.e. the tracks were rideable!

We rode over to the village of Villanova de Prades, where we used to stay when we were climbers :(. We then circled back, climbing slowly to Prades.

Prades is a village known for the use of red rock for its buildings. A sample can be seen in the photo of the stone with the workers mark on the back of the church.

Safely arriving back to camp we've washed the cycle gear, said goodbye to Jordi (Turkish name has disappeared from memory, it ends in C, I think) after giving him a FUN card amongst other info. He said he'd look in. (Hi Jordi if you read this :D. If you join I'll know your real name (y)).

Bought a bottle of the local red to drink with lunch. Paella with prawns. Now relaxing before the taxing job of planning tomorrow's journey.

Great photos Judith. Aren't the wild flowers amazing this year, same in Rhone App region, absolutey stunning.

Have a great trip. I can see why you are leaving the warm bit of Spain. We've had temperatures up to 34°C recently and that is more than enough for us! We are now just into Galicia and it is a bit more pleasant. The forecast for the north coast looks like mid to low twenties for a while - we can live with that. :)

We left Prades after breakfast and headed towards the wind turbines seen on a previous piccie. After a pretty drive through areas of vines and cornfields we've ended up leaving Spain :( and in France near Font Romeu. We eventually parked up next to a lake near Matamale (official aire du campingcars) and immediately sat out with a beer and a GnT on the lakeside. 10 minutes later we were back inside in heavy rain. It now seems to have cleared. Martin's strumming his Guitalele before watching football o_O.
