Rally Chat The 'fairness' of booking to attend rallies

I think the way Emmit does it grossly unfair, if you advertise to open the booking at a certain time, then all the people who are otherwise engaged at that particular time are effectively out of the running. The most effective way is to just put it on the forum and if you see it you book it. Trying to do fastest finger first means within 1 minute of it going up it’s full.
He gives plenty of notice, if you want to go then you plan to be online at the pre determined booking time. We booked the Pershore rally from Egypt this year.

Surely if you are organising a rally you want your friends to be at it , if it's open you may get people who you can't stand at the expense of your friends not getting on it.
We see on here folks putting others on ignore for the smallest things, do they do the same at rallies?

The Woodside Field rally dates have already been agreed for 2025 in case you have not seen them in Wombles post. The May Craft and Chat rally is available to book now. The other dates will be added to the Rally Calendar in good time.

If you are not happy with the way hard working Fun members run their rallies, please accept the challenge set by Jim and run one yourself.

We were vanless this Summer so didn’t make it to any rallies for the first time in probably 10 years. We missed catching up with people. We will endeavour to do better next year. I will be back watching carefully and following all the rules whatever they are.

Thermals are permanently packed for all trips North of Coventry now that both sons have emigrated to Scotland.

Well mmmmm not so simple sometimes

Many years ago, the boss wanted to see a band. We missed the tickets for a show so I told her next time they come we will go to see them.

If I promise something, I always deliver.

Next tour, when tickets were going on sale, I have phones and computer open ready so I could get them.

As is so often the case, it’s during work time. Usually 09:00 hrs on a Friday, as in this case

2 minutes before 9 my director called and summoned me to the office. Immediately.

When I got out the whole tour was sold out.

I bought tickets off eBay ( it was ok the ) at considerable expense. Well I had promised.

Don't call me Shirley:giggle:

At the rallies run by Emmit (that's me, apparently) I don't save spaces for mates.
That might read ridiculous but it's true.
On the 'Plum' rally right now, there's a 'mate' who only managed to get on the field because he was a highly placed reserve.
I have been known to invite 'non' mates because of their particular personal circumstances and I felt it was the right thing to do.
I appreciate that the above might be read as bs. but it happens to be true.
You ARE right that sometimes there is an attending Funster who goes up my nose, but that's how it goes.
See, I'm a poet and didn't know it.(y)

6/10. Can do better. (although I like the buying off eBay to remove oneself out of the smelly brown stuff.)
No, make a promise like that to one's beloved requires a day's holiday leave (or a sick granny) to ensure attendance to the booking.

Carry on as you do.

The four of you put on a fantastic weekend.

If I can’t get booked in next year I would be very disappointed but accept that’s the way it goes.

You can’t please everyone but TBH you all do a fantastic job.

Summoned you 🤔

He would of waited for me as I’d have been in the toilet 😉😊

No one summons me not even SWMBO 😂

😂😂

But I did keep the promise. It just cost a lot more money than originally planned.

My director suffered though as a result. He did have a good chuckle about it later on.

Well when you are responsible for an Upper Tier COMAH site. Very occasionally some thing require immediate attention.

It was just poor timing

Not sure how that is that relevant.

Really !!!!

Your comment implied it was the persons fault for not making sure they were available to book when bookings opened.

I merely presented an example where it’s not always possible nor the persons fault.

Thought the explanation was fairly straight forward and obvious myself.

Strange you don’t find it relevant

We had one of them, it was really near a very major road, the HSE used to visit on a regular basis.

There have been a few rally's we have wanted to attend, but weren't off the mark quick enough or missed the booking date/ time. It was my fault not anyone else's. We knew when the booking opened and weren't on line at the time for whatever reason.

The specialist division of the HSE will visit a minimum of 4 times a year. If they think there are no issues.

We also have to submit a safety report every 5 years. Last one I did took months to put together and whilst I did most of it I still spent around £70k on consultants.

They also change inspectors regularly to make sure they do not get too familiar with the site managers.

Very high hazard sites. Hence I had to miss out on the tockets 😳😳

We had the same inspector for years. He was a canny guy. Mind, we had to do training on what to say or not say to the HSE in the event of an incident !

Bet you did

Learn all about the pregnant pause 😳😳

They are meant to change inspectors regularly though. Usually 5 years at the most.

Agree with you though, majority are decent people. Just there to ensure you are doing what’s required. Only ever came across two complete ar**h***s
